This would have been a decent but not truly exceptional deal several months ago, before the ram apocalypse. However, considering how ram prices have at minimum doubled with no end to that trend in sight, the 16gb of ram alone is worth at least $90, making the motherboard practically free.
This exact same motherboard by itself (without ram) went frontpage at $80 a bit over a week ago: https://slickdeals.net/f/18997750-asus-prime-b550m-a-wifi-ii-micro-atx-ddr4-motherboard-80-free-shipping

Motherboard specs: https://www.asus.com/motherboards.../techspec/
This motherboard has an acceptable featureset for a b550 (midrange most modern am4 chipset) board, though the vrm is quite mediocre. It should handle non-overclocked 8-core and below cpus just fine, but I'd personally avoid it if you'd be looking to heavily overclock or get a 12+ core cpu for long-term intensive productivity applications. As a last gen am4 socket board there is no upgrade path. In the past I would've recommended even budget buyers try to get a low end am5 build, since the price premium was generally more than worth it, but with the ram price situation am5 builds are much less viable at the low end currently.

The 16gb (2x8gb) ddr4 3200mt/s CL16-20-20-38 1.35V corsair ram seems like standard middle of the road memory. The speed and timings aren't anything special, but it's not going to meaningfully drag down even a midrange am4 build either. Several months ago this ram would've been worth $40 at absolute maximum, however with the price of ram skyrocketing it's worth $90 easily (and will likely only increase in price).

You won't be able to purchase a 100/150 in desktop anyway. 5500 offers cb23 almost 10k, which is a very decent performer.

I can wager that asrock is significantly worse than this brand and model.

every asrock b550 board is better than this asus model, prime means weak for asus, this board's vrm temperature goes above 100 c when paired with any R9 processor without any OC.

5800x3d for gaming, something in the 59XX series for more cores for non-gaming workloads

This is a good deal, I paid $110 for the motherboard alone last BF. Got one though didnt really need it, maybe I'll find a use for it, or replace my B450M which has PCIE 3 with this. thanks SD.

I don't know if I really need this but I feel like I need to buy it for the RAM

fwiw I do already have this same mobo and have had weird issues with it reporting CPU over voltage on two different CPUs (temps and performance are fine but sometimes on boot it will report a voltage error and force me to go into the bios)
