The fact that a good dock is on par with the cost of a computer itself is ridiculous.

I've been eyeing the TS5 Plus since it was released, but I almost bought this when I got the CCC alert.

Any reason to go for the TS5 Plus over the TS5? The TS5 Plus is $100 more and who really needs 10GbE? There's not that much different otherwise.

It's worth adding that the TS4 charges at 98W and some Macbook models (eg MBP 16") charge up to 140W, which the TS5 and TS5 Plus support but the TS4 does not.

10Gbe is super helpful if you're running NAS with large files and need the speed.

I feel like anyone specifically buying CalDigit doesn't really mind the $100 difference between TS5 and TS5+. But the TS5/TS5+ aren't on sale right now :\
Did highlight some differences though. TS5+ has more USB slots, it isn't just the 10 GbE LAN card.

This is like an old carnival trick. Remove features from a piece of equipment, then charge more for them separately.
Except in this case, it means they cut half the motherboard off a computer and put it in a separate box.

Thunderbolt 3 and 4 are nearly identical. Only buy this if you have an (AMD/ARM) PC that has USB4 and won't recognize Thunderbolt 3... Or you somehow need the like two niche things TB4 adds (namely booting from a keyboard).

A used TS3 is less than $100 regularly on that something auction site.
