This mini PC is mainly attractive as a compact Windows box with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, and the bundled storage and memory make the price feel reasonable in a DRAM shortage. The Ryzen 7 7730U is repeatedly framed as older Zen 3 silicon, essentially a rebadged 5800U or 5825U, with Vega graphics that trail newer 780M based mini PCs by a wide margin. The hardware can still handle light use, home assistant, kids games, or a tower replacement, but it is not viewed as a strong gaming pick. There is also lingering caution around AceMagic support and past spyware concerns, with clean reinstall advice often suggested.

  • The RAM and SSD components can be valued near the deal price, making the remaining barebones portion feel less costly.

  • A coupon code reportedly works on this model, which can lower the effective cost for the 16GB variant.

  • The mini PC can be used for Windows software RAID pooling with StableBit DrivePool, which is described as a one-time purchase.

  • The system can be a practical replacement for a tower PC, including setups that connect to a monitor for everyday use.

  • The Ryzen 7 7730U is reportedly essentially a rebadged 5800U, which can limit performance expectations.

  • GPU performance may be insufficient for 1080p gaming, with Vega iGPU performance described as about half of a 780M-class chip.

  • AceMagic support reportedly can be slow, with refunds reportedly arriving only after a PayPal dispute.

  • Using USB as part of a software RAID setup can be risky, since USB is described as unstable for data integrity.

Any thoughts on how this would be for home assistant?
This would be an overkill for home assistant. You can run a bunch of order containers along with HA

Listing Q&A says win 11 pro is preinstalled.
Does that mean, this is basically a PC? When I was looking for a new laptop -- frustrated with the price and CPU/RAM, I also looked into Mini PC but I am an old millennial, so I don't understand this 😭 (I eventually bought a Lenovo Z13 for about $700)

Pretty much yeah. I have a similar one and may just use it as a replacement to my tower PC.

Thanks, I will do some research and watch out for the next Mini PC sale, maybe swap out the laptop after all. I mostly WFH, so I almost don't need a laptop. I imagine I can bring this on the go if I just, and I know I can probably always find a monitor to connect to (a USB-C portable one at minimum)

NAS it is then... seems no better option.
If I was able to spin up an unRAID server with old hardware (and even upgrade the HDDs on them) anyone can do it. If you dont already have an old PC laying around, get a full desktop from marketplace or ebay and start there. I

was lucky enough to have 2-3 desktops laying around and used one of them + a few HDDs that were laying around to start. Once I got the OS loaded and filesystem created, I started adding files. Then I added PLEX. Then started saving videos. Next thing I know I'm out of storage and needed to add more. Next thing I know I needed more storage.

The machine has been running - almost flawlessly - for the past 4 years. My last uptime was some 500+ days which was only because of a multi-day power outage. Before that I believe it was over a year of uptime.

Dive into the rabbit hole, it's worth it - if not addicting and expensive.

I had a bad experience with acemagic recently. My mini (s3a) PC died and they didn't respond through any support channels. They only finally refunded after I started a dispute with Paypal. Poor system quality and poor service.
I have had an AceMagic mini PC for going on 3 years. It has been worth the money for me, but the few times I have had problems (USB port dying, LED info readout not working) customer support has been totally lacking. I think when you buy an AceMagic pc don't expect customer support of any kind based on my experience.

It's still available because it's not actually a good product, and thus not a good deal.

You may use software raid, but doing it like that is more likely to introduce a problem than solve it. If you want a raid setup you should shuck those drives and put them in a pre-build or diy NAS.
Most pre-built NAS devices for consumers are software RAID.
Hardware RAID cards cost much more than entire consumer NAS devices do.

A lot of the systems are outdated and thus not really a deal.
Not only that, but the batteries are going to be dead or near death and they cost hundreds of dollars.

All consumer-grade NAS devices are software RAID. It's not a bad thing!!
