This mini PC is mainly attractive as a compact Windows box with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, and the bundled storage and memory make the price feel reasonable in a DRAM shortage. The Ryzen 7 7730U is repeatedly framed as older Zen 3 silicon, essentially a rebadged 5800U or 5825U, with Vega graphics that trail newer 780M based mini PCs by a wide margin. The hardware can still handle light use, home assistant, kids games, or a tower replacement, but it is not viewed as a strong gaming pick. There is also lingering caution around AceMagic support and past spyware concerns, with clean reinstall advice often suggested.

over tried and true hp/lenovo/dell 1 liter micro/mini units that cost is the $100 range. Add a pcie riser and an a380/rx6400/3050 single slot low profile added will end up costing about $300. Or get a newer micro mini with a 5600g/i5-10500 that would be 30% more performance
Any chance you could provide any links to what you're talking about here? What are you getting for $100? What is a "1 liter micro/mini"? Only way I've found to get a "name brand" computer for less than a few hundred is Dell Refurbs or ebay.

For $80 more (yes, I know that's like 20%ish percent more, but RAM increases will make this comedically small relatively speaking), you can get the equivalent system from Origimagic: A1 mini (SD won't let me link to Amazon for it) with... Zen 4 processor (7840hs) with vastly superior iGPU and much better IPC 32 gigs DDR5, which as we know is basically worth its weight in gold now. PCIe 4.0 support ..and a faster 1tb SSD to go with it...probably approaching its weight in gold, too. And an Oculink port!!!! Full disclosure, I haven't used the Origimagic...but I have used a mini PC (gmktec m7) with a 6850h (the same zen generation as the 5000 series in this listing), and I decided the small increase in cost was worth all of the extra things I mentioned above... If you spend a full $500, you can get the aoostar gem12 with same specs as above and get an extra USB 4.0 port for four displays...but not really worth it IMO...ironically, though, it's price has been the same $500 for like eight months!
The A1 appears to be $500 on Amazon which is $115 than this deal was. Am I missing something or was it on sale?

Prices are literally going up daily if you check out the history. A zen 4 mini PC with 32 gigs/1tb and oculink is pretty much impossible now under $500.

There is the magicnuc ag2 mini for $449, but you foregone oculink. If you're ok with zen 3, for $380 you can get kamrui hyper h1...also with 32g/1tb, also without oculink.

Thanks for the info. My PC knowledge is probably 10-yrs out of date. As much as egpu's appear to cost, I'm skeptable I'd ever use oculink but I do like the idea of future proofing. I bought the acemagic and it seems to be pretty decent so far (compared to my 12-yr old desktop) but I would like a better iGPU. I wish I could've grabbed that A1 at the sub $500 price. Will keep an eye on the price.

I think the BOSGAME M4 is a better deal if youre gona spend $500. You get the same specs, but one more USB4 and one extra ethernet port.

I really like Oculink; It does what it says without much drama. I currently use it for a 3090fe, but you can actually use it for anything which runs pcie 4.0 x4. You can add a riser card to add even more SSDs, for example, or a 10G NIC, or maybe a high end soundcard. The MC near me always has stuff like this on clearance; I got all three parts as openbox: the minisforum oculink dock, a 3090fe, and a decent 750w corsair PSU to drive the GPU.
