Dang...I kinda feel like a dumb consumer. I bought mine from mr mixer. It was $25, so no huge upcharge or anything. But it never even dawned on me that mr mixer was reselling some of these products. I just re-watched a few of his videos and he doesn't make any mention of New Metro. But when you go to his website to buy the products he clearly shows the products in their original packaging and the product descriptions also name New Metro. And as far as I can tell there's no affiliation between Mr Mixer and New Metro Designs.

Mr. Mixer does sell some quality stuff though, so if you spent a few dollars extra, at least you're supporting them. I bought KitchenAid gears from Mr. Mixer and they've blown away anything I could have bought cheaply on Amazon.
