Will it go a few bucks cheaper? Maybe. Or like last year when it never dropped at all. I'm in not worth waiting to stress over maybe saving $2 if you are lucky.

Very good discussion about that on this thread

Most are saying that last year it did not drop like it had in the past.
I went ahead and grabbed it since I had that same thought as you of not worth the wait for just a few bucks. My old buy point was $17.99 for Deluxe/State but last year did not hit that price so go it for $23.99 I think

same though I had, it didn't drop last year and I spent way too much time checking for a deal that at 25, it's a decent price and I don't need to think about it anymore

Was thinking the same thing when I decided to order and post this deal. I just looked at my order history and I found out that I paid the same price as last year. I'm happy.

Last year I paid 39.99 but it came with a 20.00 uber gift card combo.
Edit. After I wrote this, I realized with taxes still came out to 23.00

I got it from Newegg last year and had no problems with downloading or anything. Just ordered and the discount code was entered automatically. I guess Newegg will be getting more business if Amazon doesn't price match!

I've been using H&R Basic Tax Software for about 10 years and usually bought their pre-release offer in November. But for the last several years, the Deluxe version on Amazon and Newegg was cheaper in December. I was thinking about buying from Amazon or Newegg this year, but last year's posts about downloading problems scared me off. Is downloading better this year?

Both will get the job done. I think the primary reason to choose one over the other is whether you prefer online web-based software or desktop software. The second reason would be if you need to file multiple returns, the desktop includes 5 free federal e-files. However, desktop software charges extra for state e-file if that's important to you whereas that's included in the price of FreeTaxUSA. Same goes for multi-state filing - an extra state is I believe $40 for desktop software (plus the e-file fee if you need that), whereas it's $15 per state with FreeTaxUSA.

Cash App is free federal and state FYI, if that works for you. It does most things (no multi-state being the biggest limitation for some people).
