Incorrect information. The 5ah dewalt battery uses 18650, not 21700 cells. It's an older stock photo, not fake. Companies often use the wrong stock photo, home depot and Lowes do it all the time. JB Tools doesn't sell fakes. Bought from them a bunch of time over the last six years, everything was genuine.

DeWalt has changed the battery branding / design a few times in the last few years causing a lot of confusion.
The stock photo is actually the newest stock photo update by DeWalt as they have completely removed the "XR" branding from their normal DCB lineup since last year.
As you can see, I have posted part of my spreadsheet of DeWalt batteries using 22170 cells and 18650.
MAX Lithium ION (XR)s have had their branding / design changed 3 times this last few years.
DeWalt 20V lineup:
20V MAX (COMPACT) Lithium-Ion 18650 / 21700 Cell
20V MAX XR Batteries (Regular) Lithium-Ion 18650 / 21700 Cell
20V MAX FLEXVOLT Lithium-Ion 18650 / 21700 Cell
20V Powerstack *Newest Stacked Pouch Battery Cell
20V PowerPack *Newest Stacked Pouch Battery Cell
Originally the (Regular) 20v MAX XRs (Non-Compact, Non-Powerstack, Non-PowerPack) Models: (DCBxxx = Dewalt Cordless Battery)
DCB200
DCB204
DCB205
DCB206
DCB208
DCB210
All had the same design from TOP to BOTTOM: 2017, 2019, 2024 packaging.
THESE ARE ALL THE SAME EXACT BATTERIES INTERNALLY and recently since last year, DeWalt has removed the "XR" wording from these batteries because the XR is now on Powerstacks and PowerPacks
If you have this last design without the XR branding, the battery was most likely manufactured in 2025.

The Powerstack / Powerpack Models NOW feature an "XR" logo on one iteration, they currently have 2 different product logos for these as well which makes it even more confusing. I'll explain why they are now considered XR and not the former.

Its confusing at first but it makes sense if you understand XR means "Xtreme Runtime"
which is no longer applicable to their normal battery lineup because the DCBP lineup Powerstack and Powerpack (their newest Stacked Pouch battery configuration series) are now their 'extended runtime lineup" which offers "XR" performance
This is why Dewalt has removed that XR branding name from their normal cylindrical lithium-ion 22170 and 18650 cells which have the model name that starts with "DCB" = Dewalt Cordless Battery (DCB200, DCB204, DCB205, DCB206, DCB208, DCB210)
and applied it now to their powerstack and powerpack models (Model that starts with DCBP) which uses stacked pouch cells which offer less voltage sag under load due to its larger surface area and lower internal resistance than cylindrical cells and operate a higher operating nominal voltage.
PowerStack:
20V MAX XR POWERSTACK (DeWalt Cordless Battery Pouch)
DCBP034 1.7Ah
DCBP320 3.5Ah
DCBP520 5.0 Ah
DCBP034 stands for DeWalt Cordless Battery Pouch 034 for 34 Watt Hours (20v * 1.7 Ah).
DCBP320 stands for DeWalt Cordless Battery Pouch 3Ah class, 20v.
PowerPack: 20V XR POWER PACK
DCB2104 4Ah
DCB2108 8Ah
Hope that clears up any confusion on Dewalt batteries..
