For the average diy, you'll regret buying Milwaukee in general. Ryobi, Ridgid and Milwaukee are all made by the same company, TTI.However, only Ridgid offers a Lifetime Service Agreement "warranty" on tools, chargers AND batteries. Provided you register you register within 90 days. If the online registration still says pending, call them prior to 90 days and they should confirm on the spot. If you end up needing service and they send you a replacement, reregister the replacement item to continue the LSA. If you already have a different brand's kit and just need batteries, you could always get a Ridgid to brand x battery adapter on eBay for around $20. Never need to purchase a replacement battery again is a long term slick deal.

It's their brushless motor line vs brushed. for 90% of people\DIYers, the brushed motors are generally fine, for higher power\torque, they have brushless motors, they're faster\higher torque models. Fuel also has some more components, like anti overheating, bluetooth for their one key features, etc. They're different price points. I have some fuel and non fuel tools, I have an indoor tool set, stuff I don't want oil\or other dirt inside the house, those are my brushed (non fuel) M12 set, they work plenty well for stuff around the house. If you're trying to put a 1.5" whole through a 4x4, may want brushless tools M18, etc.

TLDR, brushed motors are fine, but know there are some limitations, but usually fine for 90%+ of DIYers. If you're a contractor doing this every day, or less budget sensitive, get brushless.

Skip this set and go with different brand set that has brushless version. You will end up with a better set of cordless power tools that will last you a long time. Ryobi and Ridgid brand with brushless motor will work just fine and save you $$$ over Miwaukee or DeWalt premium price.

They used corded for high draw tools, and brushed for less power draw tools, like drills. Always overbuy when it comes to tools, or at least get brushless anyway. M12 fuel is fine for almost every situation. By all means, wait for a deal on brushless, but projects become much less of a headache when you're using a good tool, even for DIY. A few hundred is negligible in the long run for a good set of tools.
