This certified refurb Acer Swift Go stands out as a well built 14 inch laptop with a touch IPS display, mostly aluminum construction, and strong specs for the price. The 155H chip, 16GB of RAM, and extra SSD slot make it feel fast and flexible for everyday work, and Linux Mint reportedly works out of the box. The main cautions are recurring refurb quality issues, including dead batteries, smudges, and occasional boot or charger problems, along with fan noise under heavier use. The missing right Ctrl key remapped to Copilot is another keyboard quirk to check. A solid compact option if the unit arrives in good shape.
home users who want strong battery efficiency on the 155H model because a commenter reported real-world battery life like ~14 hr web and ~10 hr web (and ~14 hr video) on 155H, with the 155H described as more efficient and mostly silent compared with the 226V.
buyers who are okay with refurb risk and want an easy return path because multiple commenters said Acer returns were easy, and they'd try the deal as long as they get a good unit.
office web and PDF users who want a quiet 14" laptop for the money because one commenter said the fan noise is quite and it only comes on during heavy installation work, while office browsing and PDFs are fine.
people who want a 14" laptop with upgrade flexibility because one commenter noted there's a second SSD slot on the 14-inch model.
Linux Mint users because one commenter said Linux Mint works out of the box on this laptop (only the touchpad Swift logo lighting was unresolved).
buyers who need a guaranteed refurb condition because some commenters received units with serious refurb issues like a dead battery that wouldn't charge or a laptop that only worked ~3 hours before dying, and in at least one case Acer wouldn't replace it.
people who can't tolerate fan noise because multiple commenters reported the fan is not quiet (even if some said it can be improved), and one person canceled their order after researching fan noise.
touch typists or left-handed users who rely on the right Ctrl key because a commenter warned the right Ctrl key is missing and is mapped to Copilot AI by default, and they said it's "total crap" unless you can successfully remap it (not guaranteed).
anyone who plans to upgrade RAM later because the RAM is soldered to the motherboard on this model, so it can't be upgraded.
buyers who want the seller to cover all return shipping because one commenter said return postage is buyer-responsible, making the "just return it" safety net less attractive.

226v has fewer threads.. So multi core is slower while single core is faster
Idle ram LPX is 0.07W compared to 1W for so-dimm
Speedometer 2.1 up to 500 mph (Single core web browsing)
226v Battery life - 22 hr video @3w, 14 hr web @5w. Up to 4 day battery life streaming.
155h gets around 14 hr video @5w, 10 hr web @6w
So is a 25-50% jump in power efficiency and mostly silent running.
If you at home get the 155h IPS glossy
If you light game and mobile get the 226v VA matte

$16 less gets you the newer more efficient processor. Single thread is faster. Multithread is slower.
The Swift Go 155h in this thread is also touch screen, IPS, and matte. The Swift Go supposedly has better build quality than the Aspire
The current deal for a refurb Aspire 14 with the 226v is $356.

aspire is pretty decent 50/50 metal/plastic, neutral IPS
As far as I can tell, the lid and body are all metal.
The SN740 ssd showed just under 20 power on hours and the battery showed 8 cycles.
It had visible smudges on the lid and around the touch pad. I cleaned it and the lids shows smudges and scratches that don't clean off.

This is true. System seems to work well after some initial set up. The laptop came with a completely dead battery and would not turn on. I had to charge it for an hour and then it turned on. It said no boot device. After fixing that in the bios settings it booted.
The SN740 ssd showed just under 20 power on hours and the battery showed 8 cycles.
It came in a generic box packaged in an Acer laptop sleeve. The charger does not seem to be correct though. It's 65W while the Acer specs page this model [acer.com] says it should be 100w. In windows there is a notification about a weak charger and that you should use the charger that came with the laptop. When running intense workloads the battery drains slowly.
Not the best resolution but better than having to send the laptop back.
