What a worthless blog and even more worthless AI summary.

I have bought several Thomasville pieces of furniture and what you described is all wrong, at least for what Costco sells. The furniture insides are real wood, and the cushions are innerspring, which is what you want if you are "BIFL", which by the way is not going to be a thing for really any sofa or sectional. They will all have a useful life, generally 10-15 years for a well made and well used piece. This isn't a cast iron pan, not everything can be for life. Could you refurbish it at some point? Sure, but taste, lifestyle, and circumstance could all change by the time the 15 years is up and most buyers would want a new piece entirely.

I asked gemini to summarize the results of this artcile https://insidersguidetofurniture....or-2024-2/.
I have been asking it follow up questions regarding the different brands I see and it does a good job of letting me know how those brands rate.
Seems like Thomasville used to be a good brand with great build quality. It's now licensed and produced by different producers. They use cheap MDF and low density foam to keep the prices down for big box stores.
So far I've found that room and board, What a room, dreamhousesofa, and a few others are rated higher or highest among some of the brands I was considering.

Edit. One caveat is that I'm looking for BIFL (buy it for life) sofas which of course means that the brands I e mentioned will be more expensive and customizeable. Everyone has their own budgets so please do your research before buying.

Right! Like this comment to get more entries.

Anyway, at least with Costco you can more easily return it if you don't like it.

Bought a Thomasville from costco not long ago. Within a year? Our first one.
I found a bunch of staples on the ground. Seems like they just blindly use tons of staples and hope they stay. Very dangerous and hazardous.

We've had a Costco-purchased Thomasville Sectional for almost six years now.

It's held up well with two adults and two active 70lb dogs and a multi-state move, whatever that's worth to you.

I would buy another one without hesitation.
