The bad reviews are pretty bad just fyi. Low range, disconnects, bad motion detection, solar panel not enough charge just to name a few
the solar issues are from people not knowing how to position them. people will place them in the shadow of roofs and gutters and wonder why they dont charge much per day. spend $5 bucks on a proper mount, positioning them above the roof or gutter line and they charge just fine when placed in proper direction towards the sun.
I ordered 8 when they were $70 for 4-pack or $35 each two years ago directly from eufy. 3 of the 8 already dead because battery no longer charge. Base on this, I would rate them 3 stars.
Note:
- I live in Minnesota and it's cold in the Winter. The app does notify that battery don't last long when in cold weather.
- I notice two of the camera dead was due to being mount in high traffic area.
- Also note that you can have these camera plugged in continuously. I currently have one plugged in continuously because it's in high traffic area (front of house and we slick-dealers have many deliveries) but it still occasionally freeze and won't response for several days. It would eventually fix itself.

How about when there is a week of rain? Doubt those tiny solar panels are going to keep the cameras charged.
I've had 2 of these installed for 9 months and have had to top them off twice. They get lots of traffic, and I do live in the PNW (dark, rainy, cold, lots of trees). They're conveniently located so it's not a big deal to charge them.

they work fine in normal weather patterns when installed properly. if you are trying to run solar during some month long weather abnormality or bad location for it, like in the mountains where you get feet of snow nonstop for 3 months a year, of course solar will not work. nor will solar work for 6 months out of the year in the arctic circle. etc.

Yes outdoor wifi items are like that. Doorbell cams also. The batteries run down faster with a weak signal. Get an expensive router and place it where it can reach best you can. Mine is mounted on the wall higher up behind my tv. MUCH larger add on solar panels are on amazon for $15-20 and I have used those to great success for cams.
