Per my earlier post, I got 25% off from the fidelity link, then used my $20 max off from my Chase offers. I purchased the desktop software direct from Turbotax. Today my Chase offer posted with $20 credit. So my final price for TT Business and Home was $70. While this is a few dollars more than Costco starting 1/19 assuming that Costco drops another $20, there was a deal on the TT website that offers $5 state returns by joining their club which auto renews but is cancelable. So it ends up pretty much a wash in terms of cost. Now the most important factoid is that I went and got it earlier because I wanted to do estimated taxes before the 1/15 deadline for 4q estimated tax payments. TT is completely useless right now in its current state, so my recommendation is to wait until next week to get it with the $20 discount. You cannot use it, so there is no benefit to getting it earlier, Details: Significant Portions are disabled. Stocks sales/capital gains section doesnt work for example. When you choose those disabled sections, it says not ready, wait. So why rush buying something that doesnt work?
Agreed. Will wait till 1/19 to see the new price at Costco.

TT online tends to be less capable, cost more, and have more opportunities to upsell you to complete your taxes after you've started compared with the desktop version. If you don't want desktop software, FreeTaxUSA, OLT.com, and Cash App Taxes are cheaper alternatives with fixed pricing and only a few optional upgrades.
Yes, go desktop version. You can start multiple returns on it, e.g., to figure out your estimated taxes mid-year. Online can only handle one return at a time with no drafts, and it's a huge PITA to make it restart from scratch. I filed with TT online for free (through Fidelity) last year and regretted the experience. I'll pay for the desktop version this year myself.

If you have a Chase card, it appears you can double-dip using the Fidelity link, and then paying with your Chase card for an additional 25-30% off (max of $20).
My Chase offers explicitly states "Offer not valid on TurboTax products purchased through other retailers" and so it sounds like the purchase must be made at the specified URL which, for me, is: https://turbotax.intuit.com/affiliate/chase52

TT is turning into junkware. Current version is only coded for the most hated version of Windows 11. Portion of the TT software is disabled even though the 2025 tax code is finalized. One can always pay 90% of last year's tax bill to avoid a penalty.

You can't double dip on their affiliate links, as far as I can tell. Using the Amex link, my $120 product became $100. Using the Fidelity link, $84 (30% off).
Thanks, but I don't see any link from Amex, did you get specific link?. I thought it automatically applies discount if I purchase from TurboTax website. Fidelity finally takes you to Turbotax.

Sounds like you need to do some tax planning to decrease your tax paid. Lots of things you can do but this is not the right place to discuss it
Depends on source of income. A lot of flexibility if self employed. Not much tax shelter if you are a physician. Maxing out 401K, HSA, and licensing fees will leave +300K of taxable income. Qualified dividends and US treasuries (exempt from state tax) are taxed at a lower rate, but the Alternative minimum tax goes into effect at this income level.

Cash balance Plans are too complicated and restrictive for most people. In summary, there's not much tax shelter if you have a good white collar job (except for corporate insiders like Warren Buffett with $100K annual salary).

That shouldn't happen if you created two independent tax returns. That's how HRB works a few years back. Make sure her return shows that she can be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return.

You might want to add SamsClub to the list. Starting January 19th, Sams will also have the same promotion. You can find it on the last full page of the Jan 2nd - 25th Instant Savings flyer.***Do I have too many memberships?CostCo Executive - Rarely shop there. I keep it for their Visa card rewwards and Travel benefits. I get a reward check (direct deposit) of $1K every year. SamsClub Business Plus - Love their free delivery, curbside and their Scan and Go. Their Optical department (my location) is worlds better than CostCo. The ability to add addition members more affordably. I use my CostCo Visa shopping here.Amazon Prime - Prime Video, shopping for nearly everything.Kroger Delivery - Best prices I can find on many products (when shopping sales and flash sales). Easy refunds on the rare occassion there is a problem with delivery. Shedding tears because it is leaving my area at the end of January.Walmart+ - Anyone over 50, sign up for AARP to save $40 on Walmart+ annual.
Good post. I agree. Have both Sam's and Costco and I try to avoid Costco as much as possible. Use them for their car wash and gas stations but their stores stress me out badly. Crazy crowds, parking situation. They definitely do have more good products than Sam's so I go once in awhile. Sam's is usually peaceful and calm and emptier. And their chickens are bigger.

I just downloaded the latest update and now you can do your tax estimates, but today is the deadline for 4Q2025 estimated tax payments! So that kinda gives you the idea of how TT deals with deadlines. Technically they did provide the ability with one day for you enter the data!

For everyone complaining about TurboTax not supporting Windows 10, well neither does Microsoft as of October 14, 2025. So, no more security updates or Microsoft support. Might want to start thinking about upgrading to 11 or a new computer.

Only general support has ended. Extended (subscription) support is available for up to 3 years longer.

I think that makes sense since the retailer in both cases is Intuit direct. Thanks for sharing your experience.

So when I pull up the $30 off offer for CSR it says online only?
