Since this thread will probably get a lot of views let this be my yearly reminder that when it comes to the desktop/download version, virtually no one needs anything other than Turbotax Deluxe.

TT strongly pushes Premier and Home & Business but the fact is that TT Deluxe can handle every situation that these more expensive versions can. The only exception that I am aware of is the ability to create W2 and 1099 forms for employees in H&B.

Deluxe has everything for all investment types, everything for owners of rental properties, everything for self-employed (1099-NEC/Schedule C filers), everything for those who do itemized deductions.

The higher versions offer more guidance but Deluxe has all the forms required and will still walk you through all of it.

Note that Turbotax Online is completely different, Deluxe Online is purposely limited forcing more complex returns to use the more expenisve Online versions than Deluxe.

Friendly reminder that this now requires Windows 11 and unfortunately will not work on Windows 10.

Or just do freetaxusa and get the same experience on the web for free. I think state is like $15 if you want to do that through them too

Just want to double check, can Deluxe also handle ESPPs and RSUs?
I have no firsthand experience but Google says

"Yes, TurboTax Deluxe Desktop can handle Employee Stock Purchase Plans (ESPP) and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) by allowing users to import 1099-B data from brokerages like Fidelity or E*Trade and adjust the cost basis. It handles these transactions through the "Investment and Savings" section, guiding users to adjust the basis for amounts previously taxed on W-2s. "

There's a new thread for the Amazon deal. I guess someone will create one for Sam's too. Wink

Thank goodness, they merged the threads!

Looks like same price I paid last year. Their Business version stinks. I had to switch to TaxAct online. Works well and better price.

Reminder that TT Deluxe download includes all the same forms as Premier

It is very unlikely that you need Premier although Intuit marketing might lead you to believing it.

Unless you need the "extra help" that Premier offers most people would be fine saving their money and getting Deluxe. Same is true for Home & Business edition.

Deluxe handles all investment types

Deluxe handles self-employment income (1099's)

Deluxe handles ALL investments types, brokerage accounts, futures trading, limited partnerships that issue K-1'sYou don't need premier for any of those
You do need Premier for those, if you want the easy-question format. sure, all Turboxtax offers all forms, but no one buys TurboxTax to fill-in the forms

You are confusing two different things.

Turbotax deluxe absolutely walks you through an interview process for all the things I mentioned, you don't have to go into manual mode and sift through the forms yourself.

Premier offers extra help topics - things that you can easily research for yourself on the internet.

100% wrong

Have you actually tried Deluxe?

I've tried both (since I got Premier free from Fidelity but otherwise have always purchased Deluxe) so I know what I am talking about

I agree with you 100%. I've never seen anyone on Slickdeals come back and say "I wish I had bought Premier instead of Deluxe". I swear I couldn't tell the difference between the two products. It's an Intuit racket!

Yep - I'm not surprised that people are fooled because Intuit's marketing on this is terribly misleading on-purpose, a lot of people think they NEED Premier or H&B when they clearly don't

Then you get some idiot who again parrots the false line that without Premier you have to fill out forms manually which is totally not true, Deluxe has the same complete interview process.

Its probably someone who probably regrets having bought Premier for years and doesn't want to admit that they have been wasting their money all this time, either that or they work for Intuit!

Why does Amazon do a physical $10 gift card on this deal versus a digital credit of some sort. Has to be expensive to ship and mail. What am I missing?
