Since this thread will probably get a lot of views let this be my yearly reminder that when it comes to the desktop/download version, virtually no one needs anything other than Turbotax Deluxe.

TT strongly pushes Premier and Home & Business but the fact is that TT Deluxe can handle every situation that these more expensive versions can. The only exception that I am aware of is the ability to create W2 and 1099 forms for employees in H&B.

Deluxe has everything for all investment types, everything for owners of rental properties, everything for self-employed (1099-NEC/Schedule C filers), everything for those who do itemized deductions.

The higher versions offer more guidance but Deluxe has all the forms required and will still walk you through all of it.

Note that Turbotax Online is completely different, Deluxe Online is purposely limited forcing more complex returns to use the more expenisve Online versions than Deluxe.

Friendly reminder that this now requires Windows 11 and unfortunately will not work on Windows 10.

Or just do freetaxusa and get the same experience on the web for free. I think state is like $15 if you want to do that through them too

Reminder that TT Deluxe download includes all the same forms as Premier
It is very unlikely that you need Premier although Intuit marketing might lead you to believing it.
Unless you need the "extra help" that Premier offers most people would be fine saving their money and getting Deluxe. Same is true for Home & Business edition.
Deluxe handles all investment types
Deluxe handles self-employment income (1099's)
The reason TT is so popular, despite the frequent price increases, is because of the hand-holding. Otherwise, any tax software will do.

PSA: Tomorrow (MLK Day) is Honorary Martin Luther King Turbo Deal Day πŸ”₯
MLK had a dream... Intuit has a nightmare if you skip these discounts. Amazon's already at ~30% off (Deluxe ~$56 right now), Costco drops $11–$20 + $10 credit tomorrow like clockwork. File early, claim those crypto/stock losses, and pretend we're not all just bent over for Big Tax. Who's grabbing Premier before the front page implodes? Or are you finally jumping ship to H&R Block/FreeTaxUSA like the rest of the sane degenerates? πŸ’ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

This question is too vague to answer. Do you want just the forms or do you want the handholding Q&A? Premier does handholding, deluxe has the forms you can fill out. If you dont understand about the different types of depreciation of stuff and dont want to do research, you can get premier or get a tax advisor, but it is sufficiently complex that you will find premier not sufficient. If you are asking about just depreciating the rental home and not appliances, and other stuff, maybe premier is good enough. but all you need is to take the building value and divide by 27.5 for 1 year or prorate it for 1 year to get the depreciation. Do some research or pay a tax advisor.
Thank you. I am looking for the handholding if possible. It is just depreciating rental home. tax guys charging $400+ it seems for long forms and anything that adds rental

Go to Bogleheads or the TT forums for more info. It is really straightforward. The real issue is that you need to keep track of the depreciation for as long as you own the house and if you sell, you need to pay a 25% federal depreciation recovery on the amount depreciated as well as capital gains unless you do a 1031 exchange. This means you really need to do some research or pay someone to advise you on the tax issues. Its not the forms you need help on, its learning the longer term tax consequences of a rental. If someone is charging 400+, then find out if that includes teaching you about these longer term issues.

Traditionally, Costco has the $10 credit towards state e-file while Amazon has the $10 e-giftcard.

As in prior years, you can't use no rush credits on the bundle, so I purchased the software without the bundle as that was greater in savings (free in my case) rather than the $10 GC.
