Since this thread will probably get a lot of views let this be my yearly reminder that when it comes to the desktop/download version, virtually no one needs anything other than Turbotax Deluxe.

TT strongly pushes Premier and Home & Business but the fact is that TT Deluxe can handle every situation that these more expensive versions can. The only exception that I am aware of is the ability to create W2 and 1099 forms for employees in H&B.

Deluxe has everything for all investment types, everything for owners of rental properties, everything for self-employed (1099-NEC/Schedule C filers), everything for those who do itemized deductions.

The higher versions offer more guidance but Deluxe has all the forms required and will still walk you through all of it.

Note that Turbotax Online is completely different, Deluxe Online is purposely limited forcing more complex returns to use the more expenisve Online versions than Deluxe.

Friendly reminder that this now requires Windows 11 and unfortunately will not work on Windows 10.

Or just do freetaxusa and get the same experience on the web for free. I think state is like $15 if you want to do that through them too

Do New Yorkers need to buy the Federal & State or just the state version? I was told that it's the law here for tax preparers to offer the state version for free. TIA.

With Amazon I'm not seeing the $10 gift card included on Home and Business.

Not from NY but I believe NY is exempt from paying the eFile fee to file your state return, they are not exempt from making you buy the state add-on for Turbotax if you want TT to do your state return.

I love how they insist on shipping a $10 gift card instead of just applying a code to your account.

The physical card is to prevent you from using Amazon digital credits towards the purchase, otherwise I would imagine some folks would save up credits all year to get TT for free.

I added the Amazon TurboTax deluxe with state to my cart, but it won't let me check out. Says there is is ineligible item in my cart? When I go to the item page, it still says in stock.
figured it out. Amazon had "forgotten" my credit card, so it was trying to pay using my gift card balance. I verified my cc and was able to purchase.

Don't need state but have investment accounts. Will I be forced to upgrade to premier if I get deluxe?

I completely forgot about the Amazon deal going live on 1/19 until I got an alert for another Turbotax deal. Since this deal was posted on 1/1, the updates on the deal details don't get pushed to people who have alerts set if they're waiting for the Amazon deal.

Still drinking the Kool-Aid for another year. Ordered the Premier because it was only $10 extra but unlikely for next year. I am retired with income coming from IRA's and investments. This year I had one large txn that involved the sale of multiple purchases of employee stock over the years that qualifies as an LTG. Also, have a brokerage accounts that create income/dividends from many different types of instruments. TT Premiere has always sorted that out for me with minimal review and believe provides a layer of "reasonable deniability" if audited (I hope).
Saying that, , I have become increasingly annoyed with Intuit policies in the last few years and looking at other options for next year. Just thankful this was posted because know the price will increase as it gets closer to 4/15 filing deadline.

If it is similar to the past several years you can do investment sales with the Deluxe version and don't need to buy the Premier version. I believe you can even import the stock sales from several brokerages directly with Deluxe version

If you go to Amazon and search for Turbotax, the search results show all versions of the software without a $10 gift card! You have to follow the link from SlickDeals to get them to show the gift card! WTF!
