For all of those a bit confused on how to use the fidelity offer with turbotax download:
- Click on the link from fidelity that will bring you to the turbotax site. It will bring you into some "online" version that you can ignore
- Go to the home page at https://turbotax.intuit.com and select "File your taxes" -> "Other filing options" -> "TurboTax Desktop"
- This will give all of the other options and you should see the original $70 for Deluxe crossed out and replaced with something else. For my 30% off, it was replaced with $49
- Click "Shop Now" and select the right side one (unless you want auto renew etc) and continue through to checkout.

I did this with an Amex card and should hopefully get the $20 off as credit. Hoping that I can dip into the BoA one (custom cash that should cover online shopping) with the additional state purchase that I need.
Or instead of trying to navigate the Intuit site to find the desktop version, just use this link after clicking the Fidelity one...

I bought Desktop Deluxe and then when I'm getting it setup, they are presenting me with a "one-time offer" to upgrade to "Premium Online" any thoughts on making that switch? I've been using the Desktop version forever, but if online is better, should I consider? Always tough to ready through Intuit's heavy marketing.

And just watch that person / company charge about the same as what were are paying with this deal.
That would be fine if there is only minimal input from me.

There are already quite a few posts about this... 100% stick with desktop version.

Since this thread will probably get a lot of views let this be my yearly reminder that when it comes to the desktop/download version, virtually no one needs anything other than Turbotax Deluxe.

TT strongly pushes Premier and Home & Business but the fact is that TT Deluxe can handle every situation that these more expensive versions can. The only exception that I am aware of is the ability to create W2 and 1099 forms for employees in H&B.

Deluxe has everything for all investment types, everything for owners of rental properties, everything for self-employed (1099-NEC/Schedule C filers), everything for those who do itemized deductions.

The higher versions offer more guidance but Deluxe has all the forms required and will still walk you through all of it.

Note that Turbotax Online is completely different, Deluxe Online is purposely limited forcing more complex returns to use the more expenisve Online versions than Deluxe.
I am not sure if this is true or not...
"Deluxe does NOT include Schedule C.
TurboTax will let you start entering 1099‑NEC info, then force an upgrade when you try to enter expenses or complete the Schedule C.
2. Self‑Employment Tax (15.3%) calculations
Deluxe cannot calculate or file this.
3. Business deductions & mileage tracking
Deluxe blocks these and prompts an upgrade
  • It forces an upgrade the moment you try to:
  • Enter mileage
  • Enter car expenses
  • Enter business supplies
  • Enter phone %
  • Enter platform fees
  • Complete Schedule C"
Can anyone confirm?

There are TWO versions of deluxe, deluxe desktop and deluxe online.

Ask AI again but be sure to specify that you are referring to Turbotax Deluxe Desktop

TT Deluxe desktop definitely contains Schedule C and handles 1099-NEC and self-employment tax calculations just fine, I have used it myself

If I purchase from Costco, can the $10 in product credit be used towards state e-file fee?
Yes. On the Costco page in Product Details it says: "2. State e-file fees: This credit can be applied toward the State e-file fees. Save time by e-filing your state return."

Not sure what to say, you need to use a different AI

Ask ChatGPT this "Does Turbotax Deluxe Desktop handle Schedule C, 1099-NEC forms and self-employed workers?"

Thanks! So basically I need to setup a TT account in order to use the software to file my tax, even it is the desktop version sold on amazon. I guess I am going to stick with HRblock.
