Since this thread will probably get a lot of views let this be my yearly reminder that when it comes to the desktop/download version, virtually no one needs anything other than Turbotax Deluxe.

TT strongly pushes Premier and Home & Business but the fact is that TT Deluxe can handle every situation that these more expensive versions can. The only exception that I am aware of is the ability to create W2 and 1099 forms for employees in H&B.

Deluxe has everything for all investment types, everything for owners of rental properties, everything for self-employed (1099-NEC/Schedule C filers), everything for those who do itemized deductions.

The higher versions offer more guidance but Deluxe has all the forms required and will still walk you through all of it.

Note that Turbotax Online is completely different, Deluxe Online is purposely limited forcing more complex returns to use the more expenisve Online versions than Deluxe.

Friendly reminder that this now requires Windows 11 and unfortunately will not work on Windows 10.

Or just do freetaxusa and get the same experience on the web for free. I think state is like $15 if you want to do that through them too

A Turbotax deal is not something one forgets. Saving $10 on tax prep software has a way of staying with a man. You'll be telling your grandkids about this someday, while taking long drags from a cigarette.
The most accurate and peak SlickDeal comment I've seen to date. Everyone watches the TT deal every. Single. Year. Added the date to my calendar lol

I'm totally over it with TT and went h&r block, $25 deluxe with state in the newegg deal.
I haven't bought but I likely will also be switching as TurboTax now requires Windows 11, while H&R does not. My computer is older and only needed for taxes. Thus, I'll be switching. When they require 11 (probably next year), I'll decide on getting a new computer or having another do my taxes. I'm Leary of using an online service.

Update: I just bought the H&R Block digital copy (download) from Newegg. Discount code is now ACSE458 and expires on 01/04. $25 plus tax.

The H&R block deal seems a bit better at deluxe + state for $25.

For most people TT and H&R Block will be identical. If you have some special circumstances like running a business, being self employed, large investments, etc then one it the other might net you a little more or little less of a refund.

I've used H&R Block for the last 6 years and have run into little bugs or glitches every year (importing, EV tax credit error, etc) so bear that in mind, but they were all eventually fixed with software updates. I had to wait 4 extra weeks to file last year until they updated their software to process the EV credit properly.

Just inconvenient, but worth the $20 savings imo since I wasn't in a rush.

We file with turbo tax online every year through the website. Is this the same thing, just with a discount?

Very late for Amazon to do. They usually do this right after Christmas.
That is true but last year Amazon had the sale on 1/18 after having the it on sale on Black Friday so its not unprecedented.

You might want to add SamsClub to the list. Starting January 19th, Sams will also have the same promotion. You can find it on the last full page of the Jan 2nd - 25th Instant Savings flyer.

***Do I have too many memberships?
CostCo Executive - Rarely shop there. I keep it for their Visa card rewwards and Travel benefits. I get a reward check (direct deposit) of $1K every year.
SamsClub Business Plus - Love their free delivery, curbside and their Scan and Go. Their Optical department (my location) is worlds better than CostCo. The ability to add addition members more affordably. I use my CostCo Visa shopping here.
Amazon Prime - Prime Video, shopping for nearly everything.
Kroger Delivery - Best prices I can find on many products (when shopping sales and flash sales). Easy refunds on the rare occassion there is a problem with delivery. Shedding tears because it is leaving my area at the end of January.
Walmart+ - Anyone over 50, sign up for AARP to save $40 on Walmart+ annual.

Good to know - I have a small side business and have always understood that I needed Premiere.
