Unless you're addicted to the color or consider it an alternative to the Zephyrus G16, it's a hard buy. I have the last-year model, btw.

Bought this to replace my Gen 9 and it runs SOOOOOOOO much cooler. Like holy shhh it's a night and day difference. I do miss the 240hz refresh rate, I miss the lights on the back that show the power adapter and I also don't like that I had to lose a USBC port on the right side.

But ultimately the 14700HX was just terribly inefficient and annoying to deal with. The OLED looks dope and the weight difference is noticeable. But above all, this laptop rarely ever runs hot. Whereas the Gen 9 ran hot all the time, even just watching youtube videos and browsing the internet.

Mine gen 9 never runs hot when non gaming. Its just heavy and thicker than g16. Even when gaming, the kb stays warm. My old g14 was burning up and not to mention g14 and g16 has thermal issues. Im just happy I got the 4060 for 800 last year.

Well, I have last year's model with i9-14900HX, 32 GB, RTX 4070, and a 1600p 240 Hz IPS screen; just like the other guy mentioned in the post, it runs so hot on gaming and hot even with slight usage due to Intel's last-gen inefficient chips. The model of this year solves the issue of high temperature and runs so much cooler, gets lighter, and has an extremely reflective OLED screen instead of IPS, and the battery life still sucks hard. Something interesting to mention: performance on the new model's quiet mode matches last year's best performance mode, plus noise, plus the high temp!
The new model is the way to go, but you have to deal with reflective OLED and the same bad battery life. If you have extra money to spare, maybe the Zephyrus G16 is a better all-around laptop, but it's much more pricey.

Advice from a user who has a Legion 7i gen 9 with an i9-14900HX:
Please go with:
1. Core Ultra 7 255HX if you want the exact same performance but a cooler chip and still have bad battery life on the laptop. (available on Legion 7i or 5)
2. Ryzen 7 350 if you care about battery life while not gaming/general use, cooler than 255HX, less general performance, and comparable gaming performance. (Only on Legion 5)

Takeaway: please stay away from Intel's 14th gen!
My choice would be Ryzen's one!

Indeed. Insane prices will come down when insane people stop paying them.

That's true across the economy.

If people stop being gouged, inventories will surge, sales will plummet, and retailers and manufacturers will be forced to adjust pricing down to compensate.

My suspicion is as much of the inflation is opportunism as it was structural...basically companies just brazenly raising prices believing consumers will accept it, and they did, and that happened everywhere and continued until recently.

A self fulfilling prophecy fueled by greedy corporations mixed with ignorant consumers/voters with zero self control and a bloated corrupt government that's printed dollars to oblivion = insane prices.

Lucky you, mine would get hot even on quiet mode while watching youtube videos and browsing.

I'm just happy this Gen 10 doesn't have any of those issues and it runs as cool as my AMD Legion Slim 7 from 2022.
