000 gets you a free taco with $5 purchase (Free taco at the most expensive price $3.89, if the offer can be used on that)

The beef I have with this one is that its not 50% off.

$5.56 from 50% off:
444 gets you $4.44 off a $20 purchase
Funny enough a Wendy's near me got bulldozed a few months ago. Upon its grave a Taco Bell sits. Next town over a BoA got demolished to make way for another Taco Bell. They cant pump em out fast enough.
Wendy's, I feel, they introduce new things to their menus and they spend a lot of money on that (customers do not want that). Look at a place like McDonald's and they are thriving, but they change sauces and so one could just remove the sauce if they wanted to keep the same Big Mac or Crispy Chicken sandwich.
So ultimately, I have no idea why Taco Bell is STILL doing so well, but cannot debate the fact that more locations are still popping up.
But what I am seeing is the beginning of nickel and diming. For example:
Used to be able to upsize a drink from medium to large for .10 cents. Now its .50 cents. Substitute a crunchy taco with a soft taco supreme was .20, now its .80.
Plus they nerfed the rewards menu into absolute oblivion.
Wendy's downfall was their outrageous pricing coupled with shrinkflation across the board. "Pay more for less" was on full display. Now they are in a death spiral and the customers won't be returning.
