This Acer Nitro 27 inch MiniLED 4K 160 hertz refurb stands out for strong HDR, good colors, and a fast panel when it arrives intact. The MiniLED backlight can look excellent after some settings tweaks, and high refresh rates are available over DisplayPort. The main concern is quality control and shipping, with reports of cracked screens, damaged boxes, and units that needed exchanges or refunds. Some units also showed dim local dimming, haloing, stuck pixels, or firmware quirks, so it is best suited to buyers willing to gamble on refurb condition.
Common Questions (5)
Shipping damage is a common risk with this refurb: multiple units arrived shattered, cracked, or in damaged boxes, and several buyers needed returns or repeated exchanges. A few units did arrive intact, but the packaging is often described as thin with minimal padding, so it can be a lottery.
The seller reportedly does not offer exchanges on these refurbs, even when the monitor arrives broken. Returns were described as easy, but some buyers had to refund and reorder instead of swapping for another unit.
It can be very dark, especially in dark mode, and the local dimming can create a noticeable halo around the mouse pointer on dark screens. The colors and refresh rate are praised, but the brightness behavior is a real drawback for some setups.
High refresh rates are only available over DisplayPort; HDMI does not provide the top Hz mode. One setup also reported 4K 144Hz HDR working on a docked Mac, but later dropping to 60Hz after a settings change.
Yes. Reported issues include stuck dimming zones, poor input auto-detection that requires power-cycling, black-screen lockups, and no firmware update path. Different hardware revisions may also have different port layouts and OSD options.

It took about four different exchanges to get one that was not fully damaged. All of them arrived with the screen completely shattered even though the box was intact. On the last one that wasn't broken, they beefed up the packaging some and I guess that was the problem.
The screen itself is OK. It's way too dark for me, and especially if you use dark mode, the entire panel gets pretty dim. The colors look good and the refresh rate is nice, but it's just too dark. If there was a way to disable the local dimming, I would do that. There's a pretty bad halo around your mouse pointer if you're looking at a dark screen.
For the price, it's not bad, but I definitely wouldn't pay any more than this.
Acer does not package these well. Mine came in a thin cardboard box with corner bubble wrap around the monitor, but basically no other padding or protection inside.
The boxes weren't even fully closed before they were shipped out. One of the boxes had about a half-inch gap, taped, at the top opening. The other had a massive tear running down one corner. I'm honestly surprised it didn't completely rip open and leave the monitor somewhere along the journey.
The one monitor that worked looked good and it does come with a two-year warranty, but Acer said it doesn't do exchanges and since I want matching monitors and don't want to deal with another lottery, I decided to return both. YMMV.

I also bought two refurbished units from them last year, and both arrived in like new condition with no shipping damage.
