The 52.5lb set is just $45 more. So $22.50 more per dumbbell. Seems like a small cost for big gain in function.

Agree with Jacob, shell out more for the 50s. I've owned them for over a year now and I've been really happy with them.

Just got the 52.5 version of these and generally they're pretty good. Only issue I have is that it's sometimes a bit difficult to line up perfectly when putting them back.

Is 25lbs too low for a guy or would that work well enough? I've got a pair of 25s now that I can pick up but only curl once or twice.

No weight it too low for anyone so long as you put in the effort. Generally speaking, based on effort and diet, you make steady gains. So over time, you may outgrow the 25lb and want to go heavier. In that case, spending the extra ~$40 for the 52lb version will "future proof" you. It will also allow you to do other exercises outside of curls in which you may be able to do more than 25lbs.

I had bought this last year and found that the discs were coming out and had to return it back. I did not have a good experience with this product.

My only issue with cap is everything they sell comes with a 30d warranty, and even that has caveats. That said I had a pair of the cap adjustables and they were fine. Only thing is the base has to be absolutely flat, don't get an angled stand, cuz the adjustment bar will sometimes refuse to turn if they aren't flat.
