I wish Menard's would stop it with their "store credit" rebates. Just wishful thinking.
Other compressors may have larger tanks with less Psi (that's usually what I see with the pancake ones). Pros and cons to both and both will probably work fine for most tools. This one may be better for tools that require short bursts of really high power. It may also be (slightly) lighter than some pancake compressors (smaller tank). I thought about this for a bit but ultimately decided against it. I don't want $25 store credit at Menard's and I am generally using nailers, so a pancake style is sufficient. I may wait for the Ridgid 6 gallon pancake 150psi compressor to go on sale for 100 bucks again. It has a lifetime warranty. I also saw Lowe's has a similar-spec craftsman pancake compressor for 100 bucks today. So I think this Bostitch is good... But a better sale on a good pancake may be better choice for light duty home users
