Don't know why you were downvoted. Someone *really* doesn't like the idea of you having a hotpot. 🤷

The only figure I found on my 99 Ranch stove only has 7650Btu "maximum input", is that the same stat?

This is good info, however it's not to say it can't be done. It just takes a tad bit longer or if you don't want it hyper boiling. It still works for hotpot

Is it really "need" or preferred? I'm sure less than 10k works fine, might take a few minutes longer but it'll get very hot and stay very hot..

FWIW this has been at this price since Black Friday.

I know this because I ordered one back then, had a delivery issue with it and never received it so tried ordering another one a month later (in December) and it was the same price.

And here it is in January still at that price.

I have an identical butane camp stove and it's worked great for power outages and camping. It's better to have this BEFORE a big storm where the power goes out, because then you can't find any at the stores

I have something like this. A godsend for when I'm working on the irrigation--lets me have a pot of boiling water next to me while I work, softens the tubing just enough to make assembly easy.

I'm going to guess preferred. I have a 7650Btu from an Asian grocery store and it has always worked fine, I had always just assumed and never thought about btu until today.

With that said I always boil the initial pot of water from the home stove first. But during usage it has never entered my mind that my stove isn't hot enough or stay hot enough and usually leave it lower than max setting.
