Got this one but returned it because it was softer than my 17-28. Maybe it was a bad copy. I'll give this another shot because it does have good reviews.

Great lens, but Tamron is getting stale with this f/2.8 ceiling on brightness for all its lenses the past couple of years. Last time they broke the mold was their 35-150mm f/2-2.8. Sony's partial purchase of them probably killed their R&D, to foreclose competing with Sony's greedy "G-Master(bator)" product line that's since been hilariously outperformed by Viltrox at 1/3 the cost.
Tamron makes more glass than any company on the planet. Just a FYI.

You are asserting that quantity is better than quality. Got it.

I'm talking any and all glass globally. Tamron makes some of the most high end glass outside of photography.

In regards to their photo lens I've had excellent results over the years.

I don't know if they are being paid, but I'd have to admit I'm concerned. I won't provide his name, but one of the prominent lens reviewers notes that his reviews are independent of outside influence, yet he provides a Viltrox discount code with each of his Viltrox lens reviews.
I'm glad that there is competition out there to keep the first-party manufacturers on their toes, but I'm concerned that Viltrox and the other manufacturers in China are working to flood and eventually take over the market.
