Lowest price since I've been tracking. $389 cheaper than the Gen 11 processor. Average price $1547

Released in early 2024, Lenovo's 12th generation of the flagship ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a powerhouse of performance boosting features in an ultrathin and ultralight form factor. Gen 12 X1 Carbon updates include Intel's 14th-gen Meteor Lake Core Ultra processors bringing improved graphics performance, stronger multi-core performance, AI capabilities, and greater power efficiency without sacrificing performance.
Unopened retail packaging, sold as configured by Lenovo. One Year Onsite Lenovo Warranty. Add up to 5 years of Lenovo Premier Support when you register your computer with Lenovo.
Manufactured with recycled carbon fiber, the X1 Carbon Gen 12 incorporates recycled materials from front to back. The top, bottom, keyboard, and even the battery back all include recycled materials. Bio-based materials like bamboo and sugarcane are integrated into the laptop packaging, ensuring it is 100% rapidly renewable.
The updated keyboard includes tactile bumps on some of the keys, making it easier for touch typists. The revised 120mm glass touchpad is larger than the last one (110mm) and still includes the familiar ThinkPad buttons at the top. Other changes include a slightly smaller form factor, thinner bezels providing a 5% higher screen-to-body ratio and it's even lighter, just 2.41 pounds without the charger!
A full HD webcam, dual-microphone array, and stereo speakers allow for easy video conferencing while working on the go. With a range of ports, including two USB-C/Thunderbolt 4, two USB-A 3.2, and HDMI ports, connect multiple peripherals as well as experience faster downloads and quick file transfers. Minimal preloaded applications mean maximum battery life and responsiveness for users, and faster deployment for IT admins.

At least it's a 16:10 display @ 1920x1200! So many laptops still have 16:9 displays -- 1920x1080. Which is unforgivable in 2026.

Remember, you can easily get a used 2020 M1 Macbook Air -- the LOWEST M-series processor you can get, in the most underwhelming version + chassis -- and still get a 16:10 2560x1600 display in a 13" format.... all for around $300-400 nowadays. Even less if you get an EDU sku with reduced storage.

It's a shame that these so-called business-class machines can't even reach that very minimal bar, all these years later.

Oh yeah, you also get a keyboard with zero flex and a best-in-industry trackpad. I'll give Lenovo one freebie, they do make a decent keyboard. Their trackpads though, ugh. Not the worst, but I've absolutely had better even on a Windows laptop. Maybe "business" to them means a defunct bait-n-tackle shop run by a hillbilly who thinks them ding-dong-dang row-butts are comin' to take their jerbs! Because there's no way I'd want to use this trackpad for more than the most minimal amount of time. Like pushing a telephone pole through mud.

I have this without the touchscreen. Battery life could be better. Apparently the Gen 13s have improved battery life

If you're looking for a Carbon your primary requirement is likely light weight (i.e. you're likely a "road warrior"). There are quite a few design decisions that are specific to reducing weight (e.g. use of carbon fiber).

NOTE: One of those concessions with newer models is RAM is soldered (and not upgradeable). This specific deal is for 32 GB (so you should be fine) but other Carbons are 16 GB.

Still, this is a premier laptop, and if you need a performance computer that is as light as possible, this should be at the top of your list.
