I have one of these in my loft, which is lit by 2 overheads on a switch and a lamp next to the couch. It's a fantastic enabler for switching between brightly lit reading mode, and summer theater mode. Great pickup

These are good but larger than you may expect if you're used to other Hue switches

Can't you just tell Alexa to turn on the lights? Or set a different mode? Or is this only for people without Alexa?
It's for both but it's nice having a physical button you can press and dim. I just put mine up last week and I love it.

Yep! The physical buttons and the wheel just make it a better experience than having to rely on alexa/pulling out my phone every time.

If someone is sleeping next to you or you don't want to wake a baby, probably be better not shouting across the room "HEYYY ALEXA!!! TURN OFF THE LIGHT!" Alexa: What?.. "TURN OFFF THE LIGHT!!"

Yup, that and Alexa is absolutely awful about changing scenes via voice commands.

I have/had 3 of the older version. Only issue is the no batteries so they will die after a few years/ 1000 button pushes

that's absurd that you can't replace the battery

Got excited. Thought they found a no-wire way to place a smart dimmer on top of an existing dimmer to control it like they have for the manual-->automated blind/curtain openers.

Are you talking about the Lutron Aurora? Only product that I know that does that. For all other products, you have to get a light switch cover (or just removing the switch entirely)

The version for this deal seems to use a replaceable CR2032 based on the Amazon description
