This thing goes through batteries like crazy, and you really have to have a clear line to the xbox for it to work. We have a baby gate in front of our entertainment system, where the Xbox sits that gives it trouble. Still if you need a remote it gets the job done.

This thing goes through batteries like crazy, and you really have to have a clear line to the xbox for it to work. We have a baby gate in front of our entertainment system, where the Xbox sits that gives it trouble. Still if you need a remote it gets the job done.

See if you can bounce that IR beam off of a serendipitously placed reflective surface (picture frame, mirror) between you and the TV to avoid needing to have a clear line of sight.

That is one option, although it might be less frustrating to go with something like this:

People have reported success using an IR repeater like that with the Xbox series X.

rechargeables ftw - also the "x" sticker for the guide button will be gone within a few months

turns out I bought this two years ago.. must have stashed it when I upgraded my xbox to Xbox Series X Console

I use a Sofabaton universal remote to control all my living room electronics including my xbox. Ran me about 40 bucks. No dashboard button of course, but there's ways around that.
