I'd stay away from any machine that doesn't have a pressure gauge. What's the point of advertising 20 bar pressure if you need to make sure you're about 9-10 bars for a good espresso shot? There's no way to check the actual pressure on this type of machines so you will never know what you're really pulling.

I got this before Xmas for $50. I got it as an entry to the world of espresso before committing the big dollars. While I agree there's a lot of gaps in getting perfect shots, what you get is absolutely serviceable to a new comer and can get some decent tasting shots. Caveat is you need a good grinder and good beans to go with it. A "good" grinder is $200 minimum it seems.
I really like how small this is. The steam wand is only ok though and it does not come with a milk steaming jug either.

How do you ensure correct pressure is being applied needed for decent espresso?

Bought at $50 last year. Returned. Nothing special. You definitely get what you pay for on this one

i got this for christmas and it makes great espresso. This is my first machine and I did get a burr grinder to go with it and it make a nice espresso with a thick crema on top. Ive used it like 50 times so far and its doing great.
