This ZenBook 14 stands out as a lightweight premium travel laptop with strong specs, a good keyboard, and solid build quality. The 2.82 pound chassis and 32GB of LPDDR5X memory make it feel fast and portable, and the 1TB SSD can be upgraded. The main drawbacks are the 60Hz OLED panel, which feels like a step down from higher refresh options, and the screen can dim and brighten in a finicky way, especially with Windows night mode. Port placement and Linux compatibility are also worth checking, making it a compact pick if portability matters more than display polish.

  • people who plan to keep the laptop as-is (not upgrade RAM) because commenters say the RAM is not replaceable and that LPDDR5X is soldered.

  • frequent travelers who want a lightweight 14" laptop because it's described as a great travel laptop at about 2.82 lbs and "pretty darn quick."

  • users who are okay with a 60Hz OLED as long as they don't need higher refresh rates because at least one commenter said they'd buy only if it had a 120Hz display, implying 60Hz is acceptable for others.

  • buyers who mainly care about getting strong specs for the money because one commenter said it's a great price for the listed specs and that 32GB LPDDR5X is more than enough for the likely intended users.

  • buyers who want to upgrade RAM later because commenters explicitly say the RAM is not replaceable (and that LPDDR5X is soldered).

  • people who are sensitive to display smoothness who want a higher-refresh screen because multiple commenters call the 60Hz refresh rate a dealbreaker and say they'd only buy if it were 120Hz.

  • Linux users who need reliable compatibility because one commenter said it seems fantastic "assuming Linux compatibility," flagging potential issues.

  • people who are bothered by OLED behavior in dark/night modes because one buyer returned it due to finicky OLED performance where autofocus causes slight dimming/brightening, especially noticeable with Windows night mode.

  • buyers comparing against cheaper ZenBook 14 configurations who want the best value per dollar because one commenter felt the premium for the $900 configuration wasn't worth it after getting a similar ZenBook 14 (255H/16GB) for under $600.

How does this compare to the Dell deal at Costco:
Dell 16" Laptop - AMD Ryzen 7 250 - FHD+ (1920 x 1200) Touchscreen - 32GB RAM - 2TB SSD - Windows 11 Home
$700

Apples and oranges. The Costco one is a 16" Dell that weighs 4.72 pounds. It's more of a desktop replacement. The Acer one has a 14" brighter screen and weighs 2.82 pounds. It's more a lightweight one you can bring with you without breaking your back.

Thanks. If main use is at a desk, not being concerned with portability, Acer or Dell?

How does this compare to the previous deal from Costco, (which just got delivered today ) Looking to use this with a monitor at home and more mobile. 14" 1200p Touch @60Hz vs 16" 1800p non-touch @120hz. My understanding is that the Zenbook is a better quality machine than the Vivobook? Otherwise the computing power seems same.

If main use is at a desk, and you're not planning on using an external monitor, a 16 inch screen (or larger) for sure. 14 is fine for on the road, but not amazing at home

I bought this Zenbok from Bestbuy a few months ago for the same sale price $899.99 and I like it. It's a great travel laptop at 2.82 lbs and it's pretty darn quick. I came from an older Asus Zenbook 3 Deluxe (2017) which still works fine. If it's like my older Asus and I'm quite sure it is, the ram is not replaceable but I did swap out the SSD drive from 512 GB to 2 TB.
I just got this laptop and I'm also looking to upgrade the drive. Do you mind telling me what you got and whether you like it?

How is the battery life?
I also got this laptop. It's excellent on the battery life compared to the ASUS I9-13900H laptop I own. I think I could probably get at least 10 hours on this with some regular streaming/web browsing type use.
