I'm not a huge fan of OE buds. Don't think you get as good NC as you do with buds in ear...imho

Correct, you get no noise cancelling. Not an opinion - simply a fact.

These are amazing for using when hearing background noise is a benefit, or even talking on the phone. Something about talking into noise cancelling headphones breaks my brain a little bit.

Exactly! I just got a pair from Shokz and I love OE earbuds mainly for comfort and awareness. I've always had fit issues with in-ear buds, but these are easy to wear all day. They're not the best for pure music quality, but for workouts, calls, and meetings I actually prefer being able to hear what's around me. Noise-canceling headphones feel weird to talk in, while these let me stay present, whether that's hearing my kids playing, a doorbell, or just being more aware during a call or audiobook

These type of Open ear headset are the best. I have the shokz and could not recommend them enough. Best in work environment where you can listen to music or podcast while working. I use them also a lot for outdoor stuff, like walking, hiking, biking. allows you to listen and still be aware of the environment. Can't compare the quality of the bose, but I can test to the style and how they function for me. I also purchase cheaper ones that were on sale here, like the baesus and anker, they all are terrible compare to the Shokz, which I also assume the Bose is much better than anything sub 100.

FYI if they are like the older ones you cannot even get adjust the ear pieces without it stopping music or if on a call hang up on the people you are with. I have the older version and yesterday walked with a beanie on but could not keep it on since the beanie covered my ears and this freaked the sensors out. There is no way to disable the sensors and have been complained about for years on their website and the bose subreddit.

Haven't tried any of the Bose earbuds, but at nearly half off and with a 90 day return policy, I'm down to give them a shot and gift the pair I don't like. Thanks for the post.

agree 100%. lack of NC is not an issue in this case. I have 3 pairs of OE ear buds now, one next to night stand, one in the car for when outside walking around, last one in the office. I prefer the open ear to both original ultra and gen 2 ultra earbuds
