Carrot seeds are difficult to grow because they're tiny and burying them usually means they can't push up through the dirt. This is why they put them in seed tape, but I've found the easiest way to grow them, is just to sprinkle them on top of soil you've worked, so it's soft, and wet, then just sprinkle a thin lawyer of vermiculite on top of them. Be very careful watering them. You'll wash the seeds away easily. Water the soil before you sprinkle the seeds and add the vermiculite, then use the mist setting on the hose until they sprout. They take a while to germinate. This works for lots of the microscopic seeds like celery and parsley. The vermiculite holds moisture and allows the seeds to push up through it. They must be planted when the weather is cool.
