Msrp is inflated. This is market rate. In fact, you can get a similar unit for $46 with just a quick search on Walmart.

These oil-filled heaters stay hot for a while after being shut off. They are useful during the winter if you get rolling blackouts.

I've heard these are a lot safer than ceramic space heaters. I used one to keep my bedroom toasty while letting the rest of my house get cold back in the day. I noticed if I pointed a fan at it from about 10 ft away it really got the room feeling comfy fast. It sort of needed to churn the warm air from the ceiling down to me. If I didn't use a fan, it really got the air 6 ft above my bed really warm instead. I had really high ceilings so it might not be a factor for everyone.

Hmm. I haven't owned an oil filled heater in years but maybe I should get another one. I remember being pretty happy with how they performed. I want to get something a big bigger than what I have for emergency heating in a room. Preferably something like this where I can choose wattage levels because I'd be running on battery backup or generator and may want to conserve some energy

Had a few back in the day. Hopefully they are better now. Was a complete waste of electricity.

Heaters are 100% efficient. So .... Technically they are the most efficient device possible.

First thing … there is no way the MSRP is realistic as they are typically $79 as a normal price. $50 is still a good price, but 69% off is ridiculous. Secondly, I love oil filled heaters. Our HVAC died years ago and we spent 4 days with no heat in the house. Family holed up in the master bedroom during this time with a new baby. One of these types of heaters kept us hot (sweating at times) with exterior temps in the high teens during the day and single digits at night. That was the only heat in the house as even the aux/emergency heat wouldn't work. The only downside is they do take a little longer to heat up vs ceramic heaters and if they develop a leak, oil will spill out so I'd suggest keeping something safe under it while in use or in storage.

TBF, these oil-filled heaters have been the $50-60 range for about 5 years, with occasional clearance prices dropping them below $20. I only know because I've been looking to add heaters to a hobby painting room that is in an unconditioned area and finding them under $20 since 2020 has been difficult. I'd like to replace all of my forced air/coil units in that area of the shop, but they aren't as available as the cheap fan units.

Living in MN, I prefer the oil filled space heaters. I keep mine on the low setting and it pulls around 600W. In my experience the most energy efficient for my use.

Not the most efficient, that would be heat pumps.
