I assume it's mixing up the scents with reviews for other options like campfire, Redwood, etc. Melanite is a garnet crystal with no natural smell.

For $12, and in the winter, I'll take the gamble. Hoping for some earthy scent.

Great smell on these candles but I get a feeling they changed the formula for these WW candles. The wax is much softer (think more like the wax cubes for melting) and the wick doesn't seem to burn as well (gets buried in the melting wax.) We have been buying the Woodwick candles for years and tell a distinct difference between the pre-sold-in-Walmart Wood Wick candle and the post-Walmart candles.
Having said all that, $12 is a good price for the smaller ones. And, I too are interested in what Melantite smells like Wink

Just to add a few insights from the amazon reviews:
  • The scent is mostly fresh and clean, but also has a warm cozy note.
  • I'd say overall it has a fresh, clean scent with a subtle cologne of musk... but it's not overpowering. It's kind of a neutral scent, burn it anytime of year and enjoy.
  • It is interesting and hard to explain. I do notice a floral type of element where some could describe as "rainy" and I am curious as to how they accomplished this scent. You normally get this through something chemical like an air freshener but this feels natural.
  • The scent is not bad and more of an outdoor woodsy smell. Reminds me of being in a cabin .
  • Top: Misty Aldehydes, Orange, Rain
    Mid: Eucalyptus, Jasmine, Birch
    Base: Cedarwood, Amber, Rock Moss
    Rainy, ozonic, or petrichor scents are my favorite, so I was happy to order this with a reasonable expectation that I'd enjoy it. It is a little different than what I'd go for with the additions of Jasmine and Amber, but hey - variety is the spice, after all.
  • The scent is fresh with light floral and rain-like notes—not overpowering, but noticeable throughout an open-plan living area.
