These are terrible quality and widely reported to fail quickly. Mine did after 6 months of almost no usage.

These came out about 6 months ago. Are they all failing from factory? Where are these reports on the 28tb expansion (barracuda)?

I bought one one of these during BF for use as a (temporary) 3rd backup for a large media library as I shift / migrate data to new drives in a new NAS.

Ran continual read/write and initialize scans with HD Sentinel Pro for about two weeks. No sectors reported as remapped. No concerning smart stats or alerts.

Ran a data sync job that copied about 18TB of data from my primary backup. Followed this up with a SHA256 hash comparison of every file between source and target drives with no discrepancies reported.

So my out of box experience has been great with this drive. But it's a Seagate retail drive and likely a Barracuda.... so I would never trust this drive with important data without at least two other copies stored elsewhere.
