This is a six month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate code deal that works out to about $16 a month, with the purchase made up of two three month codes. The codes are reported to come directly from Microsoft and can extend an existing Ultimate membership, with redemption working for some accounts and even stacking both codes successfully. The main caveats are region mismatches and occasional redemption problems, including already redeemed or used codes. It is most compelling for players who will actually use the library, cloud gaming, and launch access enough to offset the subscription cost.

  • Subscribers already on Ultimate who want to extend their membership, because the codes can stack onto an existing plan.

  • Moderate to heavy gamers who finish multiple titles in a few months, because the library access and launch-day playtime can cost less than buying each game outright.

  • Players who like trying new AAA and indie games without buying them, because the subscription lets them sample titles they might not otherwise pay for.

  • Xbox and PC players who want cloud gaming or handheld downloads, because the subscription works across those devices and includes downloadable PC titles.

  • Players who want a short, finite window to clear backlogged games, because three-month codes give enough time to finish missed content before letting the plan lapse.

  • Players who only finish one or two games a year, because the subscription can cost more than buying the few titles they actually play.

  • Buyers who need every code to redeem cleanly on the first try, because some codes can arrive already redeemed or locked to the wrong region.

  • Players who want the cheapest possible monthly rate, because cheaper alternatives exist through shorter codes or other bundles.

  • Gamers who prefer owning their library permanently, because once the subscription ends, the included games are no longer playable.

I mean you get to keep it or can resell it.
There are advantages to both. Some people will play through dozens of games in a year. They will come out way ahead with the subscription. Someone who only plays 2 games a year should pass since they won't get their money's worth.

Some people might even double dip. They could play that $70 game right away, then a year later when it's on sale for $20 they could buy it if they really liked it and want a physical copy.

Ive had gamepass for at least 5 years now. I think I play like 1-2 games a year on it. It kinda sucks, I am ending the renewal this year. Xbox games are kinda dead unfortunetly.

I just sold my Series X, and used $125 of it to buy buy a tiny mini-PC that emulates everything up to PS2 and XBOX pretty much without issue and a quality controller. I've now got thousands of complete games that don't require me to buy DLC, BS subscriptions like Game Pass, or replacement controllers as they make those like garbage now too.
Console gaming is such a garbage money-grab now.
You can also get a PS4 for $60 or PS4 Pro $100 used on FB Marketplace. It still gets a lot of new games and lots of PS Store sales too. Pop in an old SATA SSD and now it loads games much faster. This current generation just hasn't been worth it IMO.

I'm done with Microsoft I did this in the past and they had issues redeeming it so basically it was applied to an account that they wouldn't even let me get on to and after months and months of them saying that they were escalating the issue they refused to reimburse or extend the time period that I paid for. Never again

Same here I play 1-2 AAA games a year but I do love indie games and they tend to have a few each month that I play maybe only one of which I will play all month.

Game Pass Ultimate is really only worth it if you play more than 2 or 3 games single player games a year, or are on the COD cycle. Most people are just playing F2P anyway.

And since Xbox has eliminated exclusives, you were way better off building a small PC (AI/RAM prices have skewed that recently), and just buying games from Steam when on sale. Humble Bundle is also another great way to get bunches of games for cheap.

The market is flooded with so many quality games (both indie and AAA) that it's so easy to develop a huge backlog of games that are already down to 50% off or more on Steam sales.

I have GPU stacked until late 2026, but going to let it expire. Rather just buy any game I'm interested in on Steam 6 months after release at a huge discount. Handheld gaming has also taken off, influencing that decision.

Of course, if you are trying to hop on the multiplayer train (Arc Raiders, etc), then buying/playing closer to release is definitely a better bet, since player counts always drop.

Thanks for coming to my mini Ted talk.

Should be a good year for Xbox first party games, so seems like a pretty good deal.

I really like the 3-month codes. It gives you enough time to play through what you've missed, then you let your sub lapse for a few months.

I don't see otherwise but do we need to have an expired membership for this to work?
You are thinking with conversions. This is just buying more months of ultimate.
