This is a six month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate code deal that works out to about $16 a month, with the purchase made up of two three month codes. The codes are reported to come directly from Microsoft and can extend an existing Ultimate membership, with redemption working for some accounts and even stacking both codes successfully. The main caveats are region mismatches and occasional redemption problems, including already redeemed or used codes. It is most compelling for players who will actually use the library, cloud gaming, and launch access enough to offset the subscription cost.

  • The deal can deliver an effective monthly Game Pass Ultimate cost around $16 for six months.

  • Redemption reportedly worked smoothly after purchase, including an example where both codes redeemed without issues.

  • The purchase reportedly consists of two separate three-month codes that can be stacked successfully.

  • The codes are reportedly sourced directly from Microsoft and can be redeemed whenever terms remain unchanged.

  • Code redemption can fail due to region mismatch, requiring Newegg support to resolve.

  • Some codes can already be used when received, which can create a negative experience with Newegg.

  • Stacking multiple codes may be risky because games are not playable after the subscription runs out.

  • One code can show an 'already redeemed' status, which may require Newegg support to remedy.

If I am already a Game Pass Ultimate sub, I can use this to extend the membership yes? This is not just for new accounts?

I know deals like this make it a better value proposition but I just don't want to become dependent on this business model of subscribing to monthly games that I don't get to play the minute I stop paying.

Even if you are finding it relatively cheap you are conditioning yourselves to consume games this way and it's been terrible for consumers. clearly the price isn't aren't going to be low much longer there's going to be a trickle down effect Microsoft has raised the price absurd amounts already.

I mean if I could go back in time I'd probably would have bought a steam deck instead of a series X but given that I still have one laying around, I would rather just look for bargain deals and build a library.

games like subnautica and The Witcher 3 and all the old assassin's Creed, All that stuff is on sale regularly for 10 bucks 15 bucks 20 bucks.

rather buy a game or two every month and pay for game pass.

Should be a good year for Xbox first party games, so seems like a pretty good deal.
Why suddenly would they have first party games worth playing after redfall and starfield?

Yes, that's correct. I have Ultimate also, and this extended my subscription. Make sure to disable your monthly subscription autopay before entering these codes, and it'll give you a free month for enabling autopay again.

Sucks that the prices went up from Microsoft, but $192 a year ($16 a month) isn't that bad considering one AAA game is $70.
Depends how many of those you buy a year. If you would have only bought one or two a year or less, the. It is pretty bad. Personally, I stopped stacking codes and let mine run out recently bc makes no sense. There's also the argument of rental vs. ownership. Now that my sub is out, I can't play any of those games I didn't purchase.

Assuming the codes work this is a great deal given it's almost 1/2 off the new $29.99/mo price.

I grabbed the Target/PayPal combo deal during the holidays for 6 months at around $13.25/mo to extend my GPU to April of 2028. $15/mo is my threshold nowadays.

I can justify spending that much on GPU because I pay for all my non-GPU games with Microsoft Rewards points. I haven't paid actual money for an individual game since 2019, and I currently have about $400 in points in my account after spending ~$160 in the last few months. Play GP games at launch, patient gamer the rest.

How's that work? Do you need to download something or it's a whole console like PC only?
Batocera OS (free) installed on a refurbished office mini PC. It's already got all the emulators already installed on it. You just have to put the roms you use in the console's respective rom folder. It's really simple and there's tons of youtube videos to walk you through.

Haven't used my Xbox Series X in close to a year. Xbox peaked with the 360. It's been all downhill ever since. I love to see them make a comeback, but I doubt that'll happen.
not just xbox, all big three are trash now.

Just to try to save you some $ maybe:

Think about how many games from their library you can realistically start and finish in 6 months. Add up the cost to purchase the base games instead. If you game 8 hours a day, this makes sense. If it takes you 2 months or more to get through a single AAA title, this probably doesn't make sense. Also remember that the library is limited - will you want to purchase a game during this period and play that instead? Do you want Microsoft to pick the games you play, and the games you don't play?

I had this for 2 years when it was much cheaper, and there was a great deal that made it muuuuuch cheaper than that. Maybe some of you remember it. But I found myself playing a handful of games a ton, and wasn't really interested in the majority of the library. Even at $100 for 2 years, it barely made sense for me. I could have bought the games as I played instead for a little more, and I'd still be able to play them today.

Just do the math and make sure this makes sense for you before pulling the trigger.
