They made good shoes in the 90's. Most were old man styles (like this one), but some were pretty non-descript, at least. I abused several pairs of their walking shoes doing restaurant work. They were durable, dealt with grease/food pretty good, and were really comfy for hours of walking non-stop.
I'd say by the 2010's the quality went downhill significantly.
