My Amazon orders are usually in pretty good shape. Costco delivered dented cans the other day, vitacost does as well. I think fedex is the culprit for those orders, Amazon logistics is more gentle.

I ordered 32 cans of chicken noodle soups a month ago, and it looked like it went through world war 2 with over 50 percent of the cans dented when it arrived.

A minor dent on the side of the can not near the top or bottom rims and not near the seam are generally safe. But if it is near the side seam or rims you have the potential for contamination from bacteria. Think botulism.
