IIRC these are enameled steel kettles and apparently the enamel is super weak on these. They are prone to cracking and causing the metal to rust. Many reviews on their kettles about this issue. Buyer beware.

I don't have this kettle, but I did have a LC stockpot that was like this, and did indeed have issues and needed to get rid of it recently. Fortunately these aren't priced like their enamel cast iron (which do last forever). I have also had bad luck with other enamel on steel brands like Dansk so I think it's just kind of the nature of the beast.

Yeah you are right but if LC charges LC commanding prices then they should be hold at a higher standard given the fame (and cost) of their enameled cast iron products.
