The great thing about this type of wire stripper is the lightweight and compact size. I have one made in the USA (good steel) 40+ years ago that has maybe stripped a 1000 wire ends

I don't know anything about the Irwin brand of this in particular, but I really like using this style on mystery Chinese wire that isn't sized in AWG, but is attached to something expensive.

If eight strands of hair thin wire won't do it then 16 never would have.

Interesting design, with the dial. I wonder how it compares to the typical ones with fixed sized notches on the jaws

I have used this style wire stripper in my profession for years. Many different sets, including this one, and I actually prefer the set from Parts Express. That said, these are fine.
I rip all the dials and locks off mine. Wires are stripped by feel and those little add-ons just get in the way. With practice, you'll feel the jaws sink through the wire insulation, then rip it off. Not a copper strand nicked. Stripped 10s of thousands of wires with these.

Now that I think about it, 6-figures. No question. 200-300 on some single days.
