Because i have them from the 3-pack WM "deal" many years ago. They get dull fast and impossible to sharpen. I cut thread, tape, paper. I have old more expensive stainless steel that i never sharpened and they're still like new. I'd spend more money on better quality non-coated.

Strange, I don't think I've ever had any issues with any of my Westcott's, but I've not ordered these ones specifically.
