this is a really good price for a new one with shipping. i've since upgraded to a concept 2 and its much better (no comparison really)... but for $100, if you have the space and you've been thinking you could use a rower, I would get this. if you use it so much it breaks, you're only out $100 and then you would know if you need a concept 2 or not. if you don't use it you can sell on marketplace and get all your money back.

This folding magnetic rower is an inexpensive way to try indoor rowing, with a compact footprint and a price that feels low for a new machine. It is described as doing the job and assembling in under 45 minutes, but it also sits low, can be noisy, and is not easy to move around. The rope drive is called out as a likely failure point, and the monitor and footrest design may be basic compared with higher end rowers. A practical budget pick if the tradeoffs fit your space and expectations.
Common Questions (4)
No. The magnetic resistance is described as having a resistance ceiling, so even at the highest setting it may feel too light for serious power work compared with a Concept2 air rower.
The monitor is described as having features similar to a Concept2-style performance monitor, but one unit arrived with a different monitor than the product photos. That suggests there may be monitor revisions or a different included display.
The drive uses a string/rope rather than a chain, and that rope is reported as the main failure point on this model line. One unit broke after about a year of regular use, so it is a budget buy with a known wear item.
It is reported to be a bit noisy, harder to assemble than other rowers, not easy to move around, and sits oddly low to the ground. It still does the job and can be assembled in under 45 minutes.

#1 - Pivoting foot rests
#2 - Is the machine designed for a "full stroke"
#3 - Does the rowing monitor have 500m split and/or watts output.
Here's a video explaining what I just mentioned:

Almost every sub $500 magnetic rowing machines have problems with #1 and #2. Some of the really cheap ones also have problem with #3. From looking at the pics at Walmart, I think this rower has issues with all 3.
I recently did some searching on getting a budget rower and ended up finding all these problems to look out for. I've always been a casual rower, so I had no idea. I tried buying a used Concept 2, but couldn't find one at the unicorn sub $500 price (locally).
Ended up buying a Concept 2 clone for $190 from Walmart. Working well so far.

this looks like cheap magnetic resistance, which all have the same issue that there is a resistant threshold limit.
On magnetic resistance rowing machines, the main issue, especially with cheaper models, is the resistance ceiling, even at the highest setting, the resistance isn't enough for serious power workouts. Unlike air rowers(Concept 2), where resistance increases dynamically with effort, magnetic resistance is fixed, and the maximum level often ends up feeling too low.
Looks like the original cost $1000+(?). $200 asking price seems almost too good to be true.

Edit: I'll wear your downvotes for my calling out this blowhard as a badge of honor.
Edit 2: What a buncha losers. Please, sir, may I have another?
Must be location dependent. In the NE, a Concept 2 in decent shape will run about $700, unless it's a really old B model or something, or a heavily used gym one. Ended up buying a new one with discounts for $800 when my son joined crew in HS.

The rowing monitor on my rower is different from the one in the product pictures. Not sure if I have an older one or newer one.

The package is relatively heavy (~70 ish lbs). So, if there's any damage in shipping, it might be a PIA to take it back to Walmart. Just want to give you a heads up.
