I've been through two of these. the point of failure on these is going to be the string/rope. the nicer ones have chains instead of the rope. it broke on my first one after a year or so of regular use.

this is a really good price for a new one with shipping. i've since upgraded to a concept 2 and its much better (no comparison really)... but for $100, if you have the space and you've been thinking you could use a rower, I would get this. if you use it so much it breaks, you're only out $100 and then you would know if you need a concept 2 or not. if you don't use it you can sell on marketplace and get all your money back.

You cannot get a concept 2 for less than $800 and a 4 hour drive. I've been chasing this mythic $500 BS price for over a decade. Everyone wants a concept 2 of they want a rower.

It's 1/10 of the price.

This folding magnetic rower is an inexpensive way to try indoor rowing, with a compact footprint and a price that feels low for a new machine. It is described as doing the job and assembling in under 45 minutes, but it also sits low, can be noisy, and is not easy to move around. The rope drive is called out as a likely failure point, and the monitor and footrest design may be basic compared with higher end rowers. A practical budget pick if the tradeoffs fit your space and expectations.

  • The monitor on the unit appears to offer Concept 2-style features, which can help match familiar workout tracking.

  • The $200 asking price is described as unusually good for a Concept 2-style magnetic+air design with a similar performance monitor.

    abnormal1379

  • The rower can be assembled in under 45 minutes, which makes setup relatively quick for a folding rower.

    Sid2

  • The deal price is framed as workable if the rower is used enough to reveal whether a higher-end Concept 2 is needed.

    barr856

  • The string or rope is described as a point of failure that broke after about a year of regular use on this model line.

    barr856

  • The magnetic resistance design is warned to have a resistance ceiling that may feel too low for serious power workouts.

    showelliang

  • The monitor and hardware may differ from product pictures, including a monitor revision that changes what is shown online.

    abnormal1379

  • Walmart shipping for a similar clone is reported to arrive in a heavily beat-up container, which can make returns difficult if damage occurs.

I've found good Model Ds for $500 or less in both CA and TX. I sold one on eBay for $450 last summer after no one bit at $500 and I saw a number there currently FS or sold for that or less. There's one FS for $400 OBO in Amherst, MA now, and 8 recently sold for $500 or less. Anyone can easily verify that rather than be a putz and essentially call someone a liar bc they couldn't find one (looking at you, Holmes1997).
Interesting, I had looked for a while before buying the new one and anything on the lower end sold within a day or so.

You get what you pay for.

Pros:
Affordable, does the job, and can be assembled in under 45 minutes.

Cons:
A bit noisy, not easy to move around, harder to assemble than other rowers, and sits oddly low to the ground.

Would I buy it again for $106 knowing all this? No.

The rowing monitor on my rower is different from the one in the product pictures. Not sure if I have an older one or newer one.
You are awesome.

I bought it and it has been great.

From the pictures on Amazon, it looks identical to MERACH selling for $499 on Amazon now, which itself is a copycat of Concept2.
