Then the mount can go anywhere on the plywood with plenty room to center as you need it. If it is a heavier tv with soundbar add on you can use a cut 2x4 to span the studs and then find your center.
You can put an accent LED strip light behind the tv to "hide" the unpainted wood if it can be seen from the side. Obviously on an adjustable mount going out like this you would want to paint it to match the wall or otherwise (and wire manage.)
