I bought 40 of these for $12 back in April. They perform decently well if the surface is flat, sometimes the hooks will strip out but it doesn't really affect the job they do. Having said that the only universe where they're holding 30lbs (regardless of orientation) is the one where you're sticking them to a much larger magnet that's stuck to a steel slab. $16 is nuts, but for $0.50 apiece I think it's still worth it. Just manage expectations, these performance ratings/weight limits are based on ideal conditions.

They have ones that claim 170 pounds! Apparently there are different magnet strengths for these. I wonder if the 40 you bought for $12 are the same strength as these.

And shoes were made of wood, and we had to walk up hill 10 miles to school, in the snow, and up hill 10 miles to get home. We also lived in caves and in trees at one time, and nothing cost ANY money then. Blame the people who invented money, I guess.
