Sadly just yesterday it was announced that the FCC has granted Verizon waiver so as of today any purchases moving forward they will no longer have to adhere to the 60-day policy. And there was no restrictions at all as far as I could see I don't know if it's going to be 12 months concurrent or what.

But unless you plan on using visible or straight talk or whatever for 12 months these deals are basically dead in the water now. Or unless you plan on using them as a Wi-Fi only device which I suppose could be practical for these Motorola phones since they have headphone jacks and SD cards.

So I mean you could do worse than a Moto G stylus 2025 as a music player but. ... Just terrible he depressing anti-consumer news again from the current FCC

It's too late as of today Verizon no longer has to do the 60 day unlocking because they were giving away her from the current FCC. I mean I'm sure word will get around on these comments sections but I do wonder what's going to happen to edge cases people that bought a phone a week ago or two weeks ago or whatever. Anecdotally I can say my Moto G Stylus 2025 that I bought in November seems to have been automatically unlocked in the sense that when I switched my infamobile SIM card over it still works. So far anyway.

But boy I mean I bought that maybe 80 days ago. I don't know what happens to people that bought a phone a week ago or yesterday. I don't know if the grandfathering in of the 60 day is the date of purchase or the date of activation or the date of delivery.

The worst part is the FCC didn't give them any restrictions at all so far as I could tell in the judgment. It wasn't like 60 days isn't going to work but no more than 180 days or no more than 120 days. Just a complete placating to the telecom industry.

My first month service will be expired in couple days. Any suggestion how to buy a second month service for unlocking is very appreciated. "Chat to "rebrand" it as tracfone, then buying $15 plan (30 days)" is enough or $35/$45 from ST? Thanks.

This may be the cheapest way to get a one year paid plan for unlocking: Order the Moto G Power Tracfone 2-Pack w/1500 Minutes Texts & Data and Accessories $89, rebrand the Stylii to tracfone, then activate the Stylii using the SIMs that come with the Moto G Powers. Keep the Stylii for a year and then ask for unlock. Trade/sell the Moto G Powers.
doesn't work that way, adding carryover service from another phone no longer qualifies for unlocking (that was changed in April when unlocking began requiring paid service).
It now has to be paid service on that specific phone. Service time on GPower will only unlock the GPower it comes with since included plan is linked to IMEI of phone.

Can we put this phone on Verizon post-pay or are we stuck on Verizon pre-paid?

Purchased one in late December, which arrived on 12/23 and I activated on 12/26. Turned it on and saw an SMS saying today is my last day of service (1/24).

Would it be fine to refill tomorrow (the 25th), or should I wait an extra day or two to be safe to hit the 60 days?

This sounds intriguing. Will this work?!

Thank you so much. It's very helpful and informative. As I learnt:
- Don't have to be continuous service.
- Refill/activate the 2nd month plan yourself.
- Restart/Reset the phone after all.

I thought the service time was linked to the SIM card that comes with the GPower, and not the IMEI of the GPower? If it's linked to the SIM, then what I said would work. If it's linked to the IMEI of the GPower, it will not.

IIRC we HAVE to update, the system will update it for us on a certain date even if auto updates is off. So, don't take it personally as far as feeling it is your fault for losing the usb tethering option.
Thanks, I didnt take it personally. The USB tethering option is a mandatory requirement for me. Its upsetting that Moto keeps breaking it while updating android versions. A quick search indicates security updates might be updated automatically, even though I turned of automatic updates through moto. But Android version updates supposedly require the user to accept them in order to update. I guess I will find out soon enough. Im burned out from wasting so much time with this and went back to using my Samsung A54 for now. I'll get back to it and following up with Motorola next week for a fix.

It's actually both - plan is linked to sim which is linked to phone. Sim/plan won't activate in another phone, only on phone it comes with. GPowers will unlock with their included plan but Stylus will need a yr of new purchased service to unlock even if you move the GPower service to it because then it's "carryover" service, not new paid service.

Don't get mad at me...This is lighter and smaller to carry everyday than my S22U.

Doesn't matter, you will have paid for 2 x 30 days of service.

Thanks for taking the time and being so thorough. I tired searching a few times for the exact problem we are experiencing and couldnt find any information regarding the specific issue. I'll jump straight to reddit next time... although their search engine doesn't seem to be the best. Great that you began a new discussion, and that we have confirmation my problem mirrors yours precisely.
Do you know if Moto reads subreddits about its phones? Maybe we need to report this to Moto... which sounds like another hassle to deal with.
I also have a Moto G Stylus (2023) that is current on updates. I'll see if I can grab it later and confirm the USB tethering works on Visible and doesn't remain broken after the updates.
I bought 2 phones with this current deal and the other remains unopened. I guess I'll take it out and avoid the Android 15 update for now, if it even allows me to ignore it. Im afraid it will download the update in the middle of the night and screw up my second phone. Thoughts?
I still havent activated the TF service for either phone. It looks like I need to activate them in order to cancel the autopay for next months service.
I'll look into calling Moto this Monday to report the issue and post here what they told me.
THANKS AGAIN... and repped.
Yeah, Moto G Stylus (2023) should work since it's still on Android 14. I'm hoping Motorola will have a fix in place for the next update. Otherwise, it looks like I'll have to use my old phone for a while longer.

For your second phone, I'd recommend avoiding Wi-Fi to prevent automatic updates using your cellular/mobile data without your consent.

Just tested with my work Verizon post-paid SIM and it's won't work (says Network Locked).

Android 15 update breaks USB tethering.
Now I know why I was confused, mine came preloaded with 15.

Shoot! I bought and silver planned 2 Samsungs, $15 and $10 for two more sims with two more plans, offshore CS chat makes it sound like after activating my first stylus, to port in I need a sim kit and they can port my number in and combine original balance with new sim plan balance. Some folks on eBay are selling Samsung a16s without sim cards, locked to ST, so something IS being done with the SIMs separated from their prepackaged phones. Maybe telephone call will yield more worthwhile information.
