Sadly just yesterday it was announced that the FCC has granted Verizon waiver so as of today any purchases moving forward they will no longer have to adhere to the 60-day policy. And there was no restrictions at all as far as I could see I don't know if it's going to be 12 months concurrent or what.

But unless you plan on using visible or straight talk or whatever for 12 months these deals are basically dead in the water now. Or unless you plan on using them as a Wi-Fi only device which I suppose could be practical for these Motorola phones since they have headphone jacks and SD cards.

So I mean you could do worse than a Moto G stylus 2025 as a music player but. ... Just terrible he depressing anti-consumer news again from the current FCC

It's too late as of today Verizon no longer has to do the 60 day unlocking because they were giving away her from the current FCC. I mean I'm sure word will get around on these comments sections but I do wonder what's going to happen to edge cases people that bought a phone a week ago or two weeks ago or whatever. Anecdotally I can say my Moto G Stylus 2025 that I bought in November seems to have been automatically unlocked in the sense that when I switched my infamobile SIM card over it still works. So far anyway.

But boy I mean I bought that maybe 80 days ago. I don't know what happens to people that bought a phone a week ago or yesterday. I don't know if the grandfathering in of the 60 day is the date of purchase or the date of activation or the date of delivery.

The worst part is the FCC didn't give them any restrictions at all so far as I could tell in the judgment. It wasn't like 60 days isn't going to work but no more than 180 days or no more than 120 days. Just a complete placating to the telecom industry.

One of my phones unlocked today after 1 month of straight talk and one month of TracFone cheapest plan. I never did any official rebranding just bought a month of TracFone and downloaded a esim for it and my phone unlocked after 30 days. PS I don't have the original straight talk SIM in my phone so I don't think that has to be done.
Good to know. I was talking for safety having the original sim may play a factor. You were able to use an esim with Tracfone on your Stylus 2025?

Thanks, that is what I assumed. The previous post about not having the original sim in the phone though had me curious. Unless maybe it's due to one being an esim (and other physical sim)? Just found it odd. Or the fact that the esim wasn't tied to any phone at all?
Esims are registered to phone same as a psim. It's definitely something new if possible - it's only been a few months since TF/TW/ST started using esims with newer androids so there's not much information available (previously esims were only activated on iPhones & new models of Pixels & Samsungs).
Need more information.

How did you activate the esim? Did you do a BYOD activation? Enter the IMEI and did it give you the option for esim? I ask because Tracfone only allowed esim for Pixel, Samsung Galaxy and Iphones in the past.

Yes that's exactly what I did from the TracFone website.

Last question. Did you activate your Stylus 2025 on a new line or an existing line on Tracfone.

I just went to TracFone website clicked on activate and chose new customer and new line. Put my IMEI number and it gave me the option to activate esim then pick a plan. I just double checked the process using my moto edge 2024 and it gave me the option again for esim.

I notice this phone is slow after using watching online short video for a while. I had to restart the phone so often.

Tested few of mine on tracfone some older phones work and some don't.

Total Wireless Samsung A54 2023 allows ESIM
Straight Talk Moto G Power 2024 allows ESIM
Metro Moto G Stylus 5G 2023 shows PSIM only.
Boost Mobile Edge+ 2023 shows PSIM only.

Thanks for your posts. I activated my 2 styluses on the tracfone website. Hopefully, the phones unlock in 30 days.

That's indeed very interesting! I assume you did Tracfone activation after Straight Talk's one month plan had ended, correct? Tempted to try it too in 10 days when my ST plan ends.

So is it not necessary to rebrand the phone ST to TracFone? Did you put the IMEI1 or IMEI2 when registering the phone? Is it safe to enable autopay so its $10 and just cancel after 1 month? My ST month ends tomorrow, and I will try this method out.

So anyone who activated before January 21 is okay for the 60 day unlock?
I bought two of these on 11/30. My two months of service ended on 2/1 and both of my phones show "Network Lock: Unlocked" under "Device Details" when I just checked today on 2/2.
