My 2024 Moto G Power (which is effectively a Lenovo cell phone as they own the Motorola brand) has 8Gb and was $150 including cases and screen protector films a few months ago. (It was then offered for $24 less a month later.) 4GB is adequate for a lot of things but the difference shows if you switch apps frequently.
FWIW, I never stated you couldn't find a better deal on a cell phone nor was 8gb not needed / useful. Not to mention, cell phone production tends to be subsidized, tablets (without sim cards) are generally not.

Comparing a cell phone to a tablet is a bad yardstick as they are very different beasts....even if their OS / interface is similar.

Wonder if this is a good tablet for controlling a home theater/wiim , streaming apps, etc. Like a fancier control
Looking for something like this too, but thinking 8+gb ram might be essential in this day and age. Just running the os now is so much work.

I own this tablet. For me it works very well for casual couch browsing. The 4gb is not any problem for me, and I'm semi-techy user. It also works fine for me as a e-reader.

Built in storage is low, but microSD makes it easy to expand.

This is the perfect size for me. 10 or 11 inch tabs are too heavy for me for comfortable use.

I also have a Lenovo duet 11" that I had first, and still like, but find myself using the tab one 8 inch much more.

So I recommend this tablet for what it is.

I wonder how well this might work for a Home Assitant dashboard. Screen is a little on the small side but, $90.

No, its not good for anyone as a daily driver. If you are poor, then it will do, since its better than nothing.

Slow as molasses devices should be banned. But we have AI taking all the RAM production, so low memeory devices are gonna be around for a while.

Just because they are old or young, don't give them inferior devices. Spend based on usage. Someone spending all day on a tablet should be spending more versus someone spending 1 hr a week on it.

I bought 3 of them for 40 bucks each and use them as wifi devices in my household. Saves me from draining the battery on our main phones. I was hoping for the 2025 model to be around the $50 dollar mark as well and stock up on it.

Did you just compare $90 tablet to a cell phone?
I think not really comparing a cell phone to this tablet but instead why do you need this small 8-inch tablet when you have a 7-inch phone in your pocket that can perform 5x better

An 8gb ram cellphone are also likely to cost 5x-10x this and are truly multitasking devices you'll depend on 8-12 hours per day.

But feel free to link to a better $90 tablet with 8gb of real ram (not virtual memory like most of the Temu / AE models)
Debunking the first statement - https://www.straighttalk.com/all-...25-prepaid (2x of these were on sale for like 75 bucks with 1 mo plan). They would be apples to apples. If you want it unlocked, another 70 bucks. But that's 2 phones for ~150. And they would be the equivalent of the 'cellular model'. So, they can definitely do it and realize a good profit.

Yes, the tablet would have to provide more screen. But 4GB is a bad deal overall if usability is anywhere on your radar. I have a 6GB model with virtually no junk apps (almost vanilla android) and it struggles from time to time.

Unsubsidized, they are $300 or so. So, your 5-10x is overstatement. You could even find the 2024 models with 8gigs for about 150 factory unlocked new today on amazon. So, yes, debunked - your comment is still alive in mine where I quoted it. Even if you decide to later delete it.

OMG you are really having a hard time with this...."FWIW, I never stated you couldn't find a better deal on a cell phone"

Those phones for sale on Amazon....subsidized manufacturing. Unless you pretend those were built in their own special factory using their own special tooling and their own special R&D and their own special staffing. Really, is that what we are pretending? So yes, your statement is "debunked" and "your comment is still alive in mine where I quoted it. Even if you decide to later delete it." (not sure why that matters but clearly you thought that was worth saying)

And are you really suggesting I am going to delete my comment.....that I keep quoting? Okay....

BTW, which is it? "dEbUnKeD" or an "overstatement?" Can't have it both ways. An overstatement is not untrue, just exaggerated...but still based in reality. "Debunked" is entirely wrong.

Feel free to have the last word Ahab, clearly you need it.

4 GB gb is fine for basic functionality, namely browsing and streaming. I wouldn't go below that (standard Fire tablets are 3 GB fwiw), but for basic functions, that should be fine. I think 90% of people use tablets as a bigger screen than their phone for streaming YouTube/Netflix, or maybe as an ereader. No need to get a beefy iPad or Surface if that's all you're doing. Of course, if you're doing more, than this tablet ain't it.
