They don't show it in the pics, but I assume one of these has to be wired to your modem/AP, right? And then you can optionally wire the backhaul, as well.

I just want to be sure these aren't just fancy range extenders.

Side note but serious question: has all the anti-TP Link/China fear stopped or is there still concerns about these getting bricked at some point? I mean, these days anything is possible from day to day, but in general?

Can this do repeater mode which lets you extend another network including login/pw web interfaces that my old azz flint 2 router has due to factory gl.inet openwrt runs

Oooh man. I don't need it. But I finally ran up against awful channel selection on my M9 Pluses + W3600. LLM told me that the XE70 Pro don't yet have the manual channel selection seen in the XE75, but it's only a matter of time. Very, very high likelihood of that feature coming to the XE70 Pro in 2026.

I don't really benefit from 6E, but I really benefit from channel selection. You know, that thing that basic routers have had for decades, back when a/b/g mattered. Ridiculous that deco pulls this BS.

This isn't a value add. I think if anything, you would pay for parental controls and QoS. But the fact you gotta pay for historically free features is ridiculous. Can't believe routers are paywalled nowadays. I guess this is an incredibly good deal on some WiFi 6E goods, but damn.

It will work with M9+. But If you put M9+ as the primary router connecting to the modem, then the entire mesh will have max output as that of the lowest spec router (M9+). But if you put this as the primary router, then these 2 nodes will provide high throughput whereas the old M9+ will continue to provide the same throughput as you get today.

Do anyone know what speed internet it can handle. I see 4900 Mbps data transfer rate but I'm not sure if that's for exchange between network connected devices.

It's always the theoretical max bandwidth available across all bands.

Check the product page on amazon (or anywhere this device is sold).

The specs say 2.5Gbps. So 2.5Gig fiber. Note that it only has a single 2.5G port. The other 2 ports are 1G. If you use wired backhaul, you will only get 1Gig speeds if you daisy chain. It's not realistically possible for wireless devices to get >2G. Wired devices connected to a wireless backhaul satellite might get 2G speeds. Probably not though.

Unless you have a centralized switch + couple hundred feet of ethernet to each of your satellites, you won't benefit from >1Gig internet. Could be useful if you do a lot of in-network streaming, like if you were frequently remoting into a home server and using it at 4K120Hz for some reason. 150Mbps would be enough for that.

Yes, but you will lose your free HomeCare antivirus, parental controls if that is important. It is now a $60/year adder on these new routers
