Like Frank's Red Hot, I put these on everything. Just located our lost cat the other day. If you don't want to lose it, AirTag it.

I want to get this to help track my kids location (they commute to school on their own now, etc) - couple of questions I hope someone can help:
1. Will it be possible for both my wife and I to track the air tag? (different apple ids)
2. will it trigger "theres an unknown airtag following you" if I drop off my kid at a friends house for a playdate? (few hours)
3. similar to above - will it trigger alerts for the other kids while in school since it will be tied to my id and not theirs?

From perplexity:
## 1. Both parents tracking one AirTag
- In Find My > Items, select the AirTag, then use Share This AirTag / Add Person to add your spouse's Apple ID so it shows up for both of you.[1][2][3]
- Limitations: you currently cannot share an AirTag with a child Apple ID, only with standard accounts.[1][3]
## 2. "Unknown AirTag" alert at a playdate
- iPhones show an "AirTag Found Moving With You"–style alert when an AirTag that is not registered to that Apple ID is detected moving with the person over time and away from its owner's device.[4][5]
- For a few‑hour playdate, your child's friend's iPhone could potentially get an "unknown AirTag" alert if:
- Your child (with the tagged item) is moving around with them, and
- Your phone (the owner device) is not nearby for an extended period.
This behavior has been observed in real‑world reports, including when kids bring AirTags into shared spaces like classrooms or cars.[6][7][8]
## 3. Alerts for other kids at school
- At school, any nearby iPhone or compatible Apple device that detects your AirTag moving with it for a while, while your own devices are not nearby, may show an unknown‑AirTag safety alert to that device's owner.[4][9][7]
- In practice, that can mean:
- Teachers or other students might see alerts if the AirTag is consistently near them (for example, in the same classroom, in a shared backpack area, or on a bus) and separated from your phone for long enough.[4][7][5]
- The exact timing is not instant; alerts are designed to trigger after the system detects ongoing movement with another person, not just brief proximity.[4][6][5]
If you want to minimize alerts on others' phones, consider:
- Keeping the AirTag in something your child keeps on them (so it is clearly "with" your child, not left in a shared space).
- Letting close caregivers (like regular carpool drivers or family) either:
- Join your Family Sharing and disable safety alerts for your AirTag on their devices, or
- Temporarily pause safety alerts when they know they're intentionally transporting your child and that AirTag.[4]
